Hoping that Obama can use/keep the momentum. Anybody else remember his speech at the '04 Dem Convention? Inspiring as all get out.

But not quite as inspiring as a curling reference in this thread

The thing about Obama is that stands out for me is that he seems to be about teamwork as opposed to partisanship. This extends to corporations, big drug industry, etc. He seems to believe in rolling up the shirtsleeves and bringing everyone to the table to work out solutions. This is good.

Don't worry, after lastnight the Clinton machine will chew him up before the republicans ever get to him.

Obama can public speak better than Hillary. That may be all it takes to get my vote, since they have pretty much the exact same platform.

I too was a Biden fan. What was he angling for if he dropped out so quickly?

so far this whole election has been kind of like sitting on the toilet waiting to blast a massive dump. Now that it's finally started you can't help but begin to speculate on how many wipes it'll take to clean up the mess.

But Hillary can debate better than Obama. It's an interesting difference.

In the past the press had way too much influence on spinning the outcomes of these elections. Not so much now with the internet and maybe people actually ignoring mass media outlets. Rudy didn't even give a rats tail about IA. It's all about FL baby!

I noticed his trophy wife standing next to him. At least I think she was his trophy, and not Huckabee's. She looked really outta place on the stage, though.

I challenge the status quo on shift key usage and promise to shake things up in Washington likewise, when I am elected.

First off the Iowa republicans that turned out to caucus are traditionally a laughable bible beating bunch. Huckabee?????? Doubt he has legs. We will see. Evangelical nutbag republican caucus machine in full swing nominating a strangely populist jesus freak. I heard some woman imported from Arkansas saying a prayer for him on the news and she was crazy religious. Obviously these people aren't into strategy, which is good, I think. For the good of the country I hope he goes away fast.

Anyway, overall Iowa is a solidly neutral state, with a pretty conservative right, and a liberal left. Lots of independents. Similar to New Hampshire I think, but with a far sharper division between the parties. Republicans should be scared when you consider that 239,000 people turned out to caucus for Democrats while less than half that 115,000 people turned out for the Republicans. You can change your affiliation election night and apparently quite a few did.

Among core democrats the election was essentially split three ways between Edwards, Obama, and Hillary with lots of independents and soft republicans turning out for Obama.

This hurts McCain's chances in New Hampshire where swing voters are a huge block no? Also I consider McCain by far the best republican candidate but I have no idea if he could be the strongest. If he wins, and Obama wins, the independent voter that McCain traditionally has attracted might be taken away from him.

To me Giuliani has always been a joke. It will be interesting to see if he shows well in NH.

Huckabee got 35% of the overall vote but only 14% of the none evangelical vote. I think he'll get slaughtered in New Hampshire and will only win in the south from here on out.

Be careful about discrediting Huckabee, he is one of the best campaigners I've seen in a number of years. If he finishes second in NH, he may be tough to beat.Remember, % wise, christian conservatives are a large part of the electorate in every R primary. And if the unaffiliated voters stick with Obama (which is debatable), McCain isn't as viable.

    horrible horrible horrible

    running on a 9/11 platform

    extreme cronyism

    his kids hate him

    starbuxification of nyc

he very much supports an ongoing, long war.

Guiliani partners consulting is a complete load of flaming corruption

if anything, he should move to new orleans and run for mayor. he can busy himself getting rid of window washers and making trains run on time (heh- benito) and turning their theater district into a major metro... that's about all he's good for- he and his swarmy, opportunistic homewrecking wife both need to stay away from POTUS

If you put both sides together, check out the top finishers. The Democrats absolutely DEMOLISHED the Republicans with turnout.

    Total Voter Turnout (approximate)

    356,000

    Percentage of total vote

    24.5% Obama
    20.5% Edwards
    19.8% Clinton
    11.4% Huckabee (R)
