Yah. Things were a little slippery.

Rain crust underneath is stout, facets abound.

I'm assuming you'll be at Crystal, is that correct? I'm going to Summit on Tuesday, if anyone is around. When will Alpental open?

Ah, yes I saw that last night after I posted. Thanks guys. I am aiming for Baker or Stevens tomorrow. Not sure yet, depends on weather. Or, I might go hike Central. Clearly, I need to make a decision.

Just checked. They sold out and are done for the season! Seems like day passes are available at the window only.. Can someone confirm that?

    Green valley gusting graupel :

Undulating morning snowline around Greenwater, rain changing to snow and back around the moss and ferns, decent traffic keeping up a good rate, no bozos putting chains on in the access road on the way up (they appeared on the way down at 1:45). Got upper B lot at 8:20. It was filled at 1:45.

Loading lifts at 8:35 to 3-4 inches of whipped cream on fairly hard crunch up high with 2 inches or so of whipped creamcheese on a softer more edgable crust down low. No Northway or 6, the frontside was shattershins mixed with rocks and roots. So we bombed groimers, found the lower mountain softer and less crowded. No super big lines except maybe Forest Queen around 11:00, Green Valley maybe had 50 or so folks in line at it's most crowded. Lots of stuff isn't groomed with ironsided moguls all over.

Generally good masking, lots less aggro lift line moves. Seems like lots of management standing around, some chiding for masks at loading, but not in the lines.

Fleeting blubee clearing between some intense blasts with 100 foot visibility, winds weren't too bad, snow baling down at points, adding much needed coverage. Looks like the snowhose is pointed at us for a while.

Snowed hard most of the day at crustal and was slightly less crusty when Rex and GV opened around 2:40.

Gusting graupel is high on my list of favorite conditions. Maybe tops.

Ha, I was in that line. NW opened about 12. They had stated neither would open today so it was a nice surprise. Snow was better than expected. Terrible lift lines at 11:30am everywhere which was odd. Was a good day and worth going. Tomorrow should be above average.

The mornings red eyed snake slunk through sleet around the mossy folds of Groinwater. Snowline didn't really take until halfway up the access road, it's dropped a bunch since Tuesday.

B-U-S-Y day. Saw Greenmachine on the way up to the lifts. B lot parked to the cans by 8:00.

All in all, a powtitty day I'd say. Snow on West Face was knee deep and blower first thing, Eagles Nest completely deeeelivered another gentle crotch massage later on the way back to the base. Sqaully day blasters going through with a blue peek for a few minutes around 11:00 before socking in again.

Yeah, the lines were bad, but we played them pretty well. The only surprise was the monster line at the base for Chinook @ 11:00. So we railed around on Silver Queen for a few lineless laps, then pillaged the remnants up on 6 which I thought was skiing great. The Throne traverse is in decent shape, only 2 or 3 base shredder sections, and O yeah, good snow on Hamburger. Some firm found, but mostly soft grooves. Yeah!

As mentioned, lines were massive, but the managers need to ask people in line to put up their masks, not on loading the chair, duh. 70% masksense overall.

Northway did open, but we were pretty blown out by 1:30, so we rolled home. PNW is shaping up nicely, I hope our bretheren and sisteren got some good faceshots at Alpy and elsewhere.

Similar @Crustal: rain runnels visible, crust audible.

I can confirm that the xtal snow and lift lines were both surprising and remarkable.

Never had to stop people from cutting into the Gondy line til yesterday. At least 10 teener's walked right by peoples ski's and parked them selves in groups, a foot, maybe a foot & a half apart. Some didn't have masks. More tried it and I stopped that shit. Pretty soon, the entire line was just a mass of tightly compacted people. Lifties did nothing to control it and I ended up confronting a weenie that thought he was above mask wearing. Obvious to the employee's but they totally lost control of things. A picture of what went on there in the wrong hands would get C.M. a warning as a minimum. If it continues, a shutdown wouldn't be out of the question. Who ever is in charge better get their shit together. Once we got to skiing had 4 nice G.V. runs with no crowd / lift lines and went out the gates to the goods. Surprisingly decent skiing and weather was cooperative. Added: One never wants to be the "COVID" or line control cop but this was the riskiest exposure scenario I've been in since covid protocols came to be. Thanks Crystal!!
