Fucking cotter pin. At least that’s the story. Easy and yet hard to swallow.

Should be a cotter pin and a washer?

Seems like a chair without a cotter pin would not survive too many trips around the bull wheel.

Happened a few years ago at Heavenly, but nobody was in the chair. Fixed grip.

Lift mechanics blamed a cat driver for clipping the chair with his cab as he groomed underneath it. Who knows though...

Scary shit, hate having this shit in the back of my brain while riding a lift. Especially with my kid or in those really high spots.

Luckily it’s extremely rare I hope.

Yes. My preferred display for years. Hope they get it back up. Glad to know it wasn't just my hardware failing.....

Really had my fingers crossed that there'd be just enough new snow to make Crystal fun, but there wasn't. Wet refreezing slush, ice, things are starting to look patchy in a lot of places. In case you're looking for a mellow way down from Green Valley, be aware Kelly's Gap is marked as an ungroomed black diamond.
that's all i can think of, but i'm sure there's something else...

Oh, how long has there been a bar at the top of the gondy? It was open today.

Snow in the PNW 20-21: We may have Corona but Corona doesn't have us!

Did I ski in the rain with my kids at Central today? Yes. Did the rain dampen their spirits? Nope! I have raised true PNW Skiers. Hoping for snow for the weekend. Getting a little thin up there.

When the New York Times is all over it, Seattle can't be far behind - at least Greg knows not to write about where to ski:

This was one of the original ideas behind it, and it’s served as a bar before... although generally not when the mountain was open to the public.

Crustal got slightly less crusty as the day went on today and ended up being pretty enjoyable for solo laps on GV.

Sounds like NWS has some major tech debt. The mentioned throttling shouldn't impact direct personal use, but it's not good.

Roarke on the left with only smiling eyes visible. He was standing in a hole and is actually taller than his younger sister in the middle. I did him a great dis-service in this photo

Snow in the PNW 20-21: We may have Corona but Corona doesn't have us!

Skied Stevens today. There was from 2-4” of new snow on top of the hard ice layer from rain earlier in the week. Off trail looked appealing but was “dust on crust”. The backside opened, but was much of the same...cover and conditions have diminished a bit from last weekend. The refresh forecasted for this coming week should get things back on track. Parking was slow to fill up, which is so odd for Stevens. Most lots were close to full by 11:00, but lines were very manageable. This weekend is “sold out” and will be interesting to hear from others what that looks like.

Only day 3 this season, but 3 more days than I thought we would get.
