If its getting to the point that you feel you need to hide your tracks to get to your not so secrete stash its probably time you start looking for a new place to call home. I have traveled all over the world and been fortunate to always meet cool people to take me into big terrain and I am always willing to return the favor to anyone who seems like a solid person. Sorry that this month has been so shitty back home and that everyones whining about 'their' stash being tracked out but stop blaming your fellow community, get in your car or hop on a flight and go shred the shit out of some pow. Thats what winter is all about. Thats it for my rant, now i gotta get some sleep so I can make the drive from Bozeman to Revelstoke tomorrow!

I'm giving it until noon to soften up. Might be warmer up top if my sources aren't totally bogus (they might be).

Yesterday was fun and slushy with bulletproof shady spots. Sharpened my edges last night...

Hit Mt Rose Knob today. Ug-lee weather and just as ugly snow.

today ended up being sweet at squaw even tho the sun never quite came out.

it will be sweeter tomorrow if the sun comes back.

is anybody headed back to the bay tomorrow who's interested in kicking down a ride?

i'll be happy to pay for the gas. i don't have to bring any gear.

i can get off anywhere in the bay near public transit, but i live in san jose.

otherwise i'll be riding greyhound, which means leaving the hill before 2:00... nooooo!!!!
    Still waiting...

Despite the complete utter overcast sky, Jmetzler and I found some great snow in the California chute area, pipeline zone outside of Kirkwood. Pipeline was untouched and had a nice couple of inches of fluff over the firm layer which was a pleasant surprise. We even got a few pow turns right above Emigrant lake. Broadway in West Shore was firmer than it was two weeks ago. We have some great coverage but just need Winter to make a comeback.

We even found reasonable snow conditions in bounds yesterday considering the past weeks' weather. But a return of winter will be most welcome. Just finished the requisite run on Bunny with the little guy. He is almost to 3k vertical for the season. Booya.

We have a small storm coming Thursday. And then it looks dry until the end of the month.

But I'm heading to CO on the 9th. Might catch a powder day or two there.

Spent a Few hours @ Mt. Rose Ski Area. Very nice day concifering how long since it has snowed.
Made a couple turns with Internet ski Buddies.

Not long before I left the Off piste stuff started to soften up a bit where you could bite in about an inch. Not horrible. Groomers were very good but firm in spots. Lots of people. But not rediculous

Night time faceting is making for softer unconsolidated skiing again on wind and sun protected north faces ... Actually had soft turns mixed with crust today.

Any good info on B/C in the Carson Pass area (beta)? We usually ski north and west shore b/c areas, have some time this week coming down that way. I have skied Kirkwood many times and have scoped a lot of the surrounding mountains on the way. I was thinking Red Lake Peak to get some corn? Is it corning up? Anything else any better? Any wintry snow down there still?

If the GFS plays out looks like good storms heading in on the 20th. Not the End of the month but close

Partial run down from Rose toward Bower's mansion was exceptional. Hiked back to the Mt Rose Slide side which was not fun.

Were looking to be dry until the end of the month? Where did you see that. Hopefully this is inaccurate.
Is the ridge staying put there for some time. Its gonna get ugly by the end of Feb is there is no snow. A big storm needs to come along and start pushing that ridge along.

Um guys. 16 day forecast are almost as accurate as having a hunch. Just saying.

You may want to look at it like this. Likely a storm on Thursday. Not likely a storm right behind it. After that there will likely be either a storm or no storm. Seriously, mid and long term computer models are nearly useless.

Its still a point of reference. It gives hope and sometimes takes it away. Usually when they say there is not going to be snow that means there not goint to be snow. Especially when we have a ridging event like this.

Depends on which models agree and to what extent they are in agreement. But yes they are only models and pretty far out. People thinking 6-10 inches at the crest by Friday?
