Here is what Kirkwood and beyond looked like last weekend...
Alpine was as I expected conditions wise (dust on crust), and much busier than I would have imagined. They filled up lots and were parking at Deer Park, something that hasn't happened in January (supposedly).
Spent some time in the beacon field they have set up near subway. Word is they're going to have a "daily problem" listed on a sign and a member or two of patrol on weekends. As of right now, no beacons buried anywhere else on the mountain.
Going for the Sugar Bowl to Squaw tour tomorrow, with an overnight at Benson Hut.
Anyone know where to park overnight at either end?
Also, the hut has room if anyone wants to head out there with the two of us.
Any other pertinent beta appreciated.

I am heading to Squaw next week for a trip booked 6 months ago. Is it that bad out there?
^how do you feel about groomers?

Well, it seems I picked the right week to get the flu (or cold...can't tell which...not fun though)
Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp
Here's how the snow was today at Kirkwood.....I've had better.
Thanks to my bald snowboard friend for a few good runs today, and some intelligent chairlift conversation about dog dick.
Also, I would like to thank the the two drivers that blew threw the Kirkwood entrance. It never fails, and is always entertaining.
Squaw was much better than I was expecting today. The key was to just not make any turns and temporarily fool yourself into believing there wasn't any boilerplate underneath those 3 inches up top.
The 2" of dust would even sustain turns as long as you stuck to really low aspects.
Not a day I need to remember forever, but still way better than work. Also better than the skiing this time last year.
Squaw was pretty empty actually. Odd that Alpine would have been packed.
^^ I thought it was odd too. Woke up at the condo (right near the base of Alpine) and headed for Squaw because I was meeting some friends there and was surprised by how many cars I passed while driving down the road. Then got to Squaw and the parking lot was practically empty. Maybe because AM reported 2" vs. only 1" for Squaw?
