Otherwise can anyone recommend some zones, maps etc to get me going in a good general direction. I think my friends get 20% off with their passes but are there any other lift ticket deals out there.

I have all the safety gear, training, experience and am a capable skier in any conditions.
I might be around that week, unless the surf proves to be a greater draw than the snow. The familia will be visiting my parents in south Florida, so I get some vacation time. Hit me up with a PM before you head down. Unless it is great skiing inbounds, I expect to be touring in the area. Unless, of course, I road trip to some better snow...

Right now KW has a 4 pack on sale for $259, for two more days. Otherwise, you can get them online from their site for $75 (that week is considered holiday) or $89 at the mountain (minus your 20%, for $71.20).

I'm sure this can turn into a pissing match... I figure I will be able to hit 3 maybe 4 mountains. One being Kirkwood. Obviously weather will dictate some decision making but is there any definite resorts to ski before others?

sure, but amortizing the costs over only 2 skiers leads to a very poor ROI* on the initial $0 price of admission. plus, you probably had to bring your own sandwiches...

Glad to hear Friday was shitty. Drove up Thursday night and apparently contracted the ebola virus... err... well, food poisoning. Emerged 36 hours later and the skiing at Alpine this morning was okay. Took a lap down the Banzai course first thing to wake myself up, and while I'm sure it was much softer when they held qualifying later, I could definitely see some wipe-out potential at the top of The Face. The un-groomed part of Wolverine was actually much better than it looked.

Up in Lassen with a group this weekend. We were super excited to get 6+ inches Thursday night but by the time we got out Friday some sort of breakable 1" soft slabby layer had formed on anything southerly. Pretty sure it's a sun effect, but not your typical melt-freeze crust. Not sure what to call it. Face plants ensued all around. Northerly aspects have all been pretty well raped by the northeast winds, so it's been rough out here. Temps coming up today and winds coming down, so we're praying the corn gets going on the more solidly melt-freeze slopes.

Gotta learn to ski this breakable shit, or get a snowboard

Hit up CP yesterday, met some good dudes in the parking lot and we hit the skin track. Absolutely gorgeous back there, hot as hell, full sun, zero wind. The 3-5" skiied well. Moon Crescent has been bad and needs to be punished.

Hate to report that the East winds were starting doing some damage today, hopefully it will not be bad enough to kill what ever decent skiing we have left.

Few more pics from the weekend with Nacho & Powdork.

Headed down to Alpine and Squaw this week for a snowboard comp. Any beta on how the keyhole area of Alpine is riding? It sounds like that is the venue for Alpine. Also does anybody know what the most probable venue for Squaw would be? Looks to be warmer weather but not that warm. Do these areas see enough sun to soften up on 40 degree day? Thanks for any info. Nice stoke Pow Dork. Would have never guessed anything down there would be looking that good after the weather forecasts I've been seeing.
