Just called the Fortress number and got through.

From the horse's mouth: $350 / seat, or $300/seat if you can book the whole cat (13 seats). More additions and details to come to the website by tonight or tomorrow. Sounds like they've had quite a few inquiries already. Road will still be closed, they'll run you up in a little bus.

It will be nice if they ever have a last-minute single-seat deal worked out. I'm definitely not ready to pay $350 until they've worked out the kinks and I've heard some reviews from people who have skied existing operations.

Yup... paid up and ready to rock.

I was skiing with Westslope yesterday and we forgot to go in to see Mel before we left... had to wait until business hours today to call it.

Haven't paid yet. Will try this weekend or Monday at the latest. I need to go back a few pages and find out how to pay.

Revy seems to be the place to ski today. Contemplating jumping in the car and heading there today. Although it looks like the snow is going to pile up in Golden today.

Right, I think i'm in to fill one of the two remaining spots on the camp. As I am car-less it kind of depends on sorting transport and accom logistics though. I'm Banff based - wondering if anyone's in a position to help out in anyway? Gas money/beer etc is a given. I also have a couch in Banff available if anyone's thinking of staying around there and making the drive up instead of staying in Golden.

Looks like it'll be a powder day no matter where you ski today!

Don't know that I would pay $350/day to ski the same terrain we skied all those years for just the price of a Fortress lift ticket. And we used to get plenty of pow weekdays when we skied untracked the whole time.

I'm probably the only one here who has cat skied at Fortress before - that one year they tried the cat op when Charlie still owned Fortress. Did a freebie media day, but avy conditions meant all we got to do was ski out past the rope line on Friars Tuck and the South Chutes down towards Mary's Hill.

There was supposed to be some more catskiing runs off the T-bar in West Woodpecker past where you could already sidecountry. Also on the Old Double OB lookers right from Baldy and on the back down to Fortress Lake. Don't know if anyone ever did cat ski those areas.

I assume the new op is going to mean laps on the Canadian face and backside. Would be weird to cat ski on runs with official trail signs!

I would hope they have more terrain to access than the old fortress trails... any cat ski operation I've been to before has thousands of acres of terrain to chose from, and they needed all that terrain to get clients some fresh tracks in extended try periods.

Having said that, I don't remember the area well enough to know how much more terrain they could even get to.

I phoned three different times and Mel was never available. But the woman I finally gave my payment info to on Friday seemed to know what was going on.
