Holy crap...almost forgot what skiing in -28 feels like. Changed my mind, will NOT be at the lake tommorrow (unless it pukes). Expecting winchills of -39c Conditions are all frozen up anyways.

I thought you were just a little enthusiastic... However there does seem to be a bit of an inversion starting to setup, its warmer up high than mid levels and valley bottoms currently.

Super cold here in Jasper... Only opened the beginner chair and the magic carpet at Marmot. Temps aren't too bad but the wind is howling. Oh well at least I can't ski for a few days anyways.

It was cold here too, I frostbit my toes badly today, worse then I ever have. I took my boots off three hours ago and they still hurt. Disturbing color as well.

Yikes, hope it warms up by Friday. I'm now a B.C. whimp when it comes to cold weather.

I call them gaper gloves. They look stupid but I swear by them. They work really well. Key is to warm up your boots first and then put the gaper gloves over top and when you go inside take them off until going back out or they work opposite.

Emergency blankets (those thin silver foily things) work well in the boots too. You can experiment with them inside your liners or between the shell and your liners. Cheap yet very good fix for tolerating cold weather skiing.

Percocet and scotch is also a nice combo to take the pain away.

Stay away from alchohol before or while skiing or going in to the cold, well documented in medical journals for various reasons I won't go in to....stay well hydrated and keep your core as warm as you can.

How many people are looking for a place to stay in Golden???? For 10ish people looks like you can get a pretty lush pimping pad for about $120-$150 per person but they all seem to have 3 night minimums....the prices are per person for all 3 nights...

The 8-14 person places you can rent at the resort are really nice, we stayed in one over New Years a few years back, so much fun having a big group in one place. But it will be really hard to get one for less than 3-4 nights minimum. Try emailing the owners and asking though.

Talk to John Lush (Lush Mtn properties vacation rentals) regarding house rentals at the hill. He may be able to swing you guys for a couple nights stay or a cheaper place away from the hill. All really depends on the demand. You may also be able to find some through VRBO. I believe that Ian Foss still owns a house up there too, if anyone knows him I'm sure that he would cut you a deal and only 2 nights wouldn't be an issue.

On a different note, seems RCR has been enjoying hanging out at KH last week, can't blame them as it has to be the best ski hill in their quiver. At least they ski, more to say than that BN crowd.
