Hey everyone, trying to plan a small trip for the next few weeks but also wanted to express my intent to do a pre Ullrfest trip From August 12th to the 14th, (possible into the 15th for those of you who can't make the weekday part of the trip) which if you didn't know is the height of the Perseid Meteor Shower. The top of Magic is about as good as it gets to watch this event so I think it would be a really cool addition to the trip. This would stretch from a thursday night into saturday (again, possibly into sunday depending on who can make it when) for those who will need to plan for work, etc.

This should be quite the event, so let's start planning for it now!

I'll prolly be up Wed-Friday for some riding and quarry poaching. Gotta roll either Friday nite or early Saturday for a wedding in Boston. Might be heading back up after that...

I'll hit you up as plans come together.

RE-BUMP! The perseid meteor shower work weekend is upon us!

Just to give you a few details, meeting time is Saturday at 9am SHARP at the base area lot. Matt has agreed to drive our gear up the work road for us so we will be free to hike it without our heavy packs and camping gear, hence the need for punctuality to get it all loaded and get moving. Once we get to the top, we pitch camp in a nice spot to watch the meteor shower and get to work.

The goals of this weekend are threefold:

1). Clearing brush from a few old tree skiing areas along with a few new ones . Be sure to oogle at cliff sections and picture them on 2 foot pow days.

2). To scout as we go, looking for new cliff bands and air features in the woods as we hike and work.

3). To have a BLAST enjoying the great scenery and company Magic has to offer while enjoying the meteor shower and a few cold ones and some good food.

So get stoked! If anyone has questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask me. Hand tools are a good idea- hand saws, loppers, machetes and the like are staples, as there's almost no need for stuff bigger than that. Hope to see you guys there!

Hey I emailed you on some logistics...I know you are working but let me know what you think. Give BB a call this week to so we can all be on the same page for location etc.

    Woo hoo!!

I add one vote for some swimming/jumping at a nearby water feature after. It's nothing crazy but OH SO REFRESHING!

Would love to see you make it up! that was an amazing camping trip! You'll be missed if you can't make it.

The first awesome one that would spark many to come. The inaugural glade cutting trip too. Shit, that was only 3 years ago??? Feels like so long ago.

All those pics are on my old computer. This is all I've got...

    The drive down on Sunday

9 rib eyes, corn on the cob, fresh shrimp, homemade bread - and Smelly.

    Cush taking in the view

    You've gotta recognize this spot??

    and Smelly.
Laughing so hard right now. We were the last two standing & were listening to the Sox/yanks playoff game in the truck. It was like the 13th inning or something. He wanted to go to his tent so badly but wanted to hear the outcome of the game.

He told me the only way he could make it was if I cooked him a sausage. i got out in the pouring rain & cooked us some sausage. Hilarious.

This HAS to be my new sig. I reread it a few times, picturing different hollywood survival situations in which it would be hilarious... Cliffhanger, 300, Braveheart, etc. It is still KILLING me... I've been chuckling for a solid five minutes.

FTW. Awesome. I remember laughing so hard I nearly cried when you retold the story the next morning.

Edit to add i guess it was Cleveland. The game just wouldn't end is all i remember.

"Manny Ramirez went deep to highlight a raucous fifth inning that gave the Red Sox the lead, but the Indians clawed back and eventually roughed up reliever Eric Gagne late to cap the five-hour, 14-minute game."

Affirmative on the dog - bring him (just dogs that get along with people and other dogs is really all we mean). Camping on the peak. If you show up by about 9am you will be able to throw gear in the back of the only vehicle driving up the mountain. If not, then you get to hike to the top with all your stuff. Which takes roughly an hour (if you are in shape).

It is getting cold at night so I would suggest you let your lady friend know to pack nice and warm. Days are hot, nights are coooool. Be prepared for 30 degree temperature swings.

Also, Do Work and I agreed that for food - BYOF and BYOB. There will be one or two small grills brought up to the top. There is an IGA in Londonberry to get food and beer at and Jelly's Mobile is the local liquor store.

    Should be a good time.

Perfect. Thanks for the explanation, this fills in all the necessary details. We'll pack car camping and backpacking gear in the car just in case we miss the rendezvous at 0900. See you guys there.

For Skirotica. Last time I think we had 7 doggies. Like Bumpskier said as long as he/she is cool with that it won't be a problem. I think they have more fun than anyone. Pic swiped from Facebook.
