There's going to be some key players from that photo missing this weekend. Dogs and humans. Pretty sure we can still have a good time, although you guys will be missed.

I know, I know. This is just a shitty weekend for me to be up there. We're planning another weekend with these guys again in the fall.

    Let's hope for better weather.

No, but I owe OG a phone call so I'll hit him up too while I'm at it and see what's good.

bummed I missed this one, will there be another before the flakes fall? I used to do my pruning at smuggs early October.. nice and cool, no bugs that way

I'd be game by then, as I'll hopefully be done most of my house construction by then..

Great time this weekend. It was good meeting skirotica & lady friend, and seeing everyone else. While our intent was to cut a public glade off of red line, we got glade cutting ADD and focused our efforts on a less public stash that needed love. Wow is all I can say...

    My mini TR:

    The crew loading up gear

    Up top

View from our tent. Not to shabby.

    Skirotica getting it done

We get by with a little help from our friends

A quick rest while watching some trees come down

    New cliff we found/cleaned out

The even bigger cliff we found.

Ok enough work. Hiking back up for some cold beers and food

(Skirotica, Ollie the dog, ISBD, Saddie, Maggie, and Skirotica's lady)

Picking up some late stragglers, DW along for the ride.

    Grilling some meat

    Time for a pretty sunset

ISBD reflecting on a great day.

In the secret hut with Saddie the dog, looking out over the valley

Artsy. The clouds cleared out for an amazing night of stargazing and meteor watching.

Mmmm, breakfast of champions (UNM style with the grate )

    Hanging out

Great weekend. Good seeing everyone. Can't wait for the next one!

DJ, I would count on no less than one public Magic camping trip per month until the season starts. If you want to go up on a specific weekend, let me know and we can put a little something together. We're getting really good at the whole mt top camping thing, so if there's a time that works for you, get in touch and I'm sure we can figure something out. Really stoked for the fall trips too, the days are cooler and the foliage is nothing short of amazing.

Not to rub it in, but we had such an amazing weekend- sorry you couldn't make it! I'm sure the picture flood will be coming any time now, so that should get your blood flowing

As for the trip this weekend, I'd like send out a HUGE thanks to everyone that came out. We got an insane amount of work done on some of the steepest pitches anywhere on the hill and of course had a blast doing it. I for one am super stoked to get back up there and keep working but alas, real life calls. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to daydream about new runs like the pillowtastic Champagne Room (There IS sex in the champagne room!) and the assload of multi-stage cliffs/ uber-steep trees we just made skiable.

MMMMmmmmm... Gotta go, something just came up

Edit: Nice work D. Love the pics!

Thanks for letting Liz and I help out this weekend. It was awesome meeting all of you guys and getting to know Magic. I'm super stoked to see the mountain in winter and throw myself off some of those cliffs. See you at the next cutting party.

What a great work weekend. It's amazing how quickly lines can be worked out when you have 10 or 12 people tearing it up with saws, axes, loppers, etc. Great to see some familiar folks & doggies, as well as TC out with the fam, and to meet some new peeps. I look forward to a couple more work days/camp-outs... the potential in the trees at Magic is bananas. It's just going to get sicker from here on out.

The terrain that we've been discovering continues to blow me away. We stumbled upon some incredible cliffs as seen in bumpskier's post. There is also staircase line that DW found (not pictured) that is seriously ridiculous... total pillow mania once it gets dumped on.

Wow some great pics everyone! Great trip for sure! UNM, no stress- you put in a ton of work for this hill, you can take a weekend off It certainly won't be the last one!

I think the newbs and the veterans alike were all blown away at the stuff we were working on. It's amazing how many unbelievable secrets Magic has, you think you found the coolest shit and then you look 50 feet to the side and there's something even cooler. The hardest part is figuring out what to work on next!

I am taking it easy tonight and hanging out with my homeboys the couch, the shower and the mattress, as I for one am sore as hell... 3 days on Magic will seriously take it out of you!

Skirotica + 1, glad you guys could come out and thanks for the help, it's always great to make new Magic converts that are down for the cause!

all these shots are sweet and as much fun as I'm having biking and enjoying summer, I cannot WAIT to get back on the hill. I wish I could have made it for this weekend's work, but prior plans got in the way. Next time though... next time.

Loving the stoke feedback, guys- Looks like we'll have plenty of people for the next time when we tackle a particluarly long and hairy line. Stay tuned!

I definitely want to get an another work day or two in before the season, hopefully with my girlfriend in tow. I might even be able to convince her she needs a pass. I'm planning on bringing quite a few Magic first-timers this year.

you know that guy that doesn't do any of the work but expects to take full advantage of the goods? And then wants those goods to be kept a secret from everyone, except the people that do the work?

    its me.

thank you all for having the best attitudes and energy of any ski mountain devotees anywhere.
