Six, seven, eight, nine, they're all OK numbers.
Clemens will look like a big, fat turd tomorrow night. I know, he already does, but he'll even get the shit-brown color tomorrow.

Be nice to Roger. He can still get it down to $3 mil per win if he throws well in September. (And don't forget Dice K has lost about six games by one run, getting less than three runs of support in those games, so he could just as easily have been at 16 or 17 wins right now.)

3.88 is a pretty terrible ERA.

BTW, last time I checked DiceK had outpitched every member of the Yankees staff by VORP. (That may have changed with tonight's outing from Pettite).

Now that's a standard of measure to be proud of measuring oneself against.

There's no way they can win the guild, get fucking serious. They have a shot at the consortium though.

It's a pretty good stat. Like any statistic, you can argue over its importance, but it's well-accepted.

Anyway, tonight was the pitching matchup I was really worried about. Boring game, really- looking forward to tomorrow.

Objective math does lack the mysticism and bitterness that you seem to be fond of.

I think he meant measuring him against the Yankees starters. When seven games down with a month to go, you pretty much have no one to insult but your own team it appears.

I know; when people say stupid shit I generally try to bring a little more attention to it in a quote* and then move on.

*This is not one of those quotes though.

Boy, nothin' more bitter and sarcastic than a bunch of Sox fans on the internet after they get beat by Johnny. Drive time in Boston tomorrow morning will be ugly on the dial.

And, yeah, saying anybody is pitching better than any Yankee this year is not a glowing compliment. Duh.

    except for Joba Joba Joba.

<funfact> Mike Mussina has one year left on his contract at about 12 mil for the 2008 season. Also known as twice as much as Dice-K makes. </funfact>

We're bitter and sarcastic all the time. Your guy outpitched our guy, we'll do it again tomorrow. No need to be insulting, just play the games and see who wins.

I just slapped 100 bucks on the table that says that [ech]Dice K[ech] will never be 25% the pitcher Mussina has been in a damn good career. Shit, what's his ERA against the Yanks this year in 3 appearences? What, like maybe 7 or sumthin'? He got hammered earlier this year in 2 games, and now five more runs. Shit, he won those first two games because the Yankee pitching was either AA or simply sucked monkey balls against your potent offense. BFD! I predict he'll wind up like all the other overhyped Jap pitchers, pretty much figured out by the middle of the second season, and pretty much out of it by the fourth. But still making big bucks. Lucky him.

Um, Benny, you won the game. You can calm down now.

That ump must've been from your hood, he sure didn't give the "Jap" much love on the strike zone.

Absolutely. The AL league average ERA is 4.48, so Dice-K is six tenths of a run better than that. I'd say that's pretty good. No, not outstanding, but good.

Pretty much the same way the Yanks can get crushed 16-0 and then come back and beat the Sox, I'd say.

    I hate Johnny Damon.
