Props to Al Leiter for not trashing Joel Zumaya on the heels of Zumaya's 8th inning overexuberance, although clearly YES' producers wanted him to. Leiter thinks it's okay to be pumped after a big strikeout, leading Kay to mutter "Yeah... Okay... Still, it's not the 7th game of the World Series." Shut up, you bitch.

It should be noted that the Zumaya "incident" took place some 30 hours ago.

    Game. Tigers 16, Yankees 0.

I was planning on it, but I also packed up all my books, alphabetized and packed my CDs, and made a semi-delicious fettucine carbonara. It was only semi-delicious because I used bacon instead of pancetta, whole wheat rotini instead of fettucine, I only had two eggs, and I'm out of salt. Whatever, though, I also got halfway through the remainder of the liquor cabinet.

Moving sucks, but it also sort of rules.

edit: to keep this baseball-related, it's pretty sweet that the YES Network's "Play of the Game" was Melky Cabrera's catch of Carlos Guillen's bases-loaded drive in the first. Yeah, it was a sweet catch, and it saved a couple runs (although it did score one). Whoop-de-fucking-shit, they lost 16-0 instead of 19-0.

    YES is pathetic.

I was moving today as well, and went to the gym- did the Yankees lose? Maybe I should check ESPN.

Incidentally if any of you guys are around Fenway, shoot me a PM, my new place is right outside the park.

EDIT- WOW. I had no idea. I did have an idea that Mussina throws 86 now and is nothing more than a decent batting practice pitcher, but wow. 0 runs.

Its about time they get rid of Mussina. He was good at the beginning of last season, but then faded towards the end... and kept fading this year. He's lost his pop and all his stuff, and truthfully, it looked like something was wrong with how stiff his delivery was.

I hope they bring up Ian Kennedy from AAA. 12-3, 1.90 ERA... I'd like to see him get a chance.

How the fuck does that happen?

You didn't have eleven cents to buy a new package?

Whatever, good times in BoSox land tonight.

But you really need to have salt, deal with that please.

Moose still has it, Dusty's right, look at the four before the current four, he was pitching great. He tweaked something, that's pretty obvious.

Well, I ran out when I was halfway into the cooking, and sort of stopped replenishing the kitchen when I ran out of stuff because of the upcoming move. I do have some coarse grained La Baleine sea salt, but it's not really good for sprinkling on food. The idea of the carbonara was to use up as many ingredients as possible, and I polished off the eggs, the pasta, the parmesan, the bacon, and the shallots (not technically an ingredient, I know), so it was a pretty successful meal in that regard. Also, since bacon was substituted for pancetta, the salt was pretty well accounted for- could have used a little more though.

Frankly, I was pretty happy with my improvised carbonara, but now I just feel like shit. Thanks, ice.

he pulled this shit a few seasons ago. Was pitching hurt for 4 or 5 games before he informed Torre and Stottlmyer. What's the diff, anyway. Like who's gonna replace him.

Oh well, I guess it's the Tigers/Cubs to watch in the big show.

Went to the Togers / Yankees game at Comerica last night... good times! Tigers put a major whipping on the Yanks... ya gotta love that.

Best tee shirt of the night...

quite the dearth of smack talking going on considering the sox and yanks are starting a 3 game series in just a few hours.

    I hate to admit it...but...

Yanks will have to sweep to have any chance at conference.

I love it, but remain skeptical. The Tigers are 19-26 since the All Star Game and Gary Sheffield just went on the DL.

Conference, division...whatever. They don't have a chance unless they sweep this series.

they dont have a chance at the AL East even if they sweep the red sox.

a sweep combined with an LA sweep of seattle and they would be in the lead for the wild card though.

thank you mr. hawking, i don't think anyone thought the yankees' magic number was 3.

all they have is east coast division teams for the rest of the season, except for a kc series. if they go on a tear, like one HUGE fucking tear, they can win the division, conference, federation, consortium and guild.

if the yankees play .720 ball the rest of the season, they will end the season at 95 games.

the sox can play one game under .500 and end up at 95 games.

yes, it would be one huge fucking tear accompanied by an epic collapse of proportions that has only been seen recently once.

by the red sox last season.

but that ain't gonna happen again!

Dice-K.... 13-11 (or is it 10 losses- can't tell if Yahoo credited him with the L tonight or not), 3.88 ERA. THat's probably not what management expected when they shelled out all that cash.
