    Get it while you can.

I have skied 3 days this week. All great spring skiing with perfect corn snow. Not Slush or mank but good old fashioned Soft Corn.

Mt. Rose has a nice freeze thaw going. Home Wood offers fast smooth groomers and some nice tree corn in the 11AM till 2 PM range. Its good stuff but the cover is not deep. Get it now.

Believe it or not there is still shin deep powder on N, NE aspects in the right zones. Quite a pleasant surprise to ride some powder, porn, and corn in this heat. Git sum while you can because its going to be a long, hot summer.
    powder? what's that?

Walter - doing quite well up north. A little below average for snowpack, but holding up well.

Still good corn everywhere I've been this past week. Not as much has melted as one would think.
Oh yeah, I did find severe hardpack for my first time in Crescent Couloir. My dog actually slid the entire thing, tomahawking out at the bottom. Scary ass shit! He's a stud and was still able to charge all the way back to the car with me. Just a little cut on one hind leg, the real damage being his scratched corneas. His extreme skiing career began and ended with the same run. I'm just hoping he's not too traumatized to do more mellow shit in the future. He is healing up nicely.

When the Sierra Crest sensor at 8,700 ft has been in the high 30's through 50's the last week, you know that Tahoe hasn't been firin'

Probably the same stuff that the Mrs. 666 shattered her ankle on in West Shore....same aspect. I'm working on the TR from that whole weekend, have been a little busy the last week.

Don't tell me you're a nerdy remote sensor guy too!

The remote sensors only paint a portion of the picture (air temp, wind speed, wind direction). They do not take into account the aspect, surface temp of the snow, core temp of the snow, and the effect that wind speed and direction play on given aspects. In other words, don't rely on them 100%.

Its best to go have a look for yourself. You could be pleasantly surprised.

3-15-07 pseudo powder skiing in Tahoe.

I'd be up there today, tomorrow, and yesterday if it wasn't for that little thing called work.

ps. Give my best to H and looking forward to a skierr666 TR.

Full Frontal was in unbelievable shape today. Perfect mid-winter snow.

while we did indeed ski some powdery snow on thurs, ya gotta admit that the shin deep part was a bit of embellishment. unless you're talking about the bottom of your shin thats inside the ski boot .

while the overnight temps have been in the low 40's in the higher elevations w/ freezing temps at lake level w/ the inversion we've got going on, its still worth getting out. only the top 3-6"is freezing but its enough as long as you hit it early. skied perfect corn in echo bowl this morning at 9 and am going back for more manana.

    whats/wheres full frontal arty???

    Those aren't skins

Those are snow transportation devices.........as in transporting snow

Skins are things you put on your skis that allow you to go uphill EASIER than postholing.

So...you're being kinda cryptic...you're still hooking me up with skins, right?

No weekend TR from me, I got 5 shots, 3 of my friend carving then bailing on his snowboard and two of corduroy. Nothing TR-worthy. Some of the more photogenic mags were too busy getting their BC on.

Ok, I'm a firm believer in the K effect; but that's ^ just crazy talk. Who knows. Maybe I'll be surprised in the morning.

not sure where you got that info. NOAA is calling for an inch overnite and a couple days of the Evil E. So, kirkwood should pretty much suck for the next couple days.
