    tahoe firing!!!!

at last we are really looking like winter around here. full on puking all day till about 3 and easily a foot or more at lower elevations of light blower. and the nws forecast discussion is saying that conditons are now very favorable for heavy snow starting again sat night and into the foreseeable future. started twitching too hard by 2 today so i had to leave work to ride the heave for the 1st time since thanxgiving or an hour and a half of quality untracked pow skiing in low angle stashes. mott was open but i didn't have time to go all the way over there and i'm sure it was titties. word from a bud is that p-house was chokingly deep in the steeps and the track is punched for you early risers. the wind is sposed to die by mid morning so tomorrow and sat should be off the hook and we'll finally have some lower elevation bc options to play in. GIT SUM!!!!

yup. prolly 2-3 storms under 7%. this one is borderline blower but still muy cold and light for these parts, especially this year. i'll guestimate it at 6-7%.

we get much better snow than "blower", we don't hit ice moguls on 3foot days with our snow.

That's not bad, really. Every time I have ridden in Cali (I lived there for a few seasons) it was almost always 8-10%.

    Have fun, kids!

    (ain't nuthin' like 12" of 2-4%, tho'!)

Mott? Why? They opened Killibrew. Zippy and I were given special permission from a patroller to enter an area with closed signs, with the warning it was bony. He was right. But it was also untracked blower. Definitely 18"+ in places and face shots on all steep turns - FINALLY. We made the mistake of trying out Maggies Canyon next. Although the traverse in was a brushy hell, we actually found several turns of nice hippy powder out there.

Heads up to those seeking the steeps. This stuff was sloughing fast. One ran all the way down a long gully on me. It's lighter than anything we've seen this year and not bonding to the fiirm base in many places.

Already looking forward to the AM.

I was a little sad about the fact that I am only going to be able to ski a few hours this weekend at the most. However, I just heard the reno news guy say that the sun/mon storm is gonna colder and wetter which means Tuesday will be epic city. Huh, I'm pretty sure I can ski all day Tuesday. I win again.

THERE ARE NO FRIENDS ON A POWDER.....

    LITERALLY!!!

    But I still had fun:

Drive out to Kirkwood started with some 'poor' visibility...

    which got worse.

Until I came upon this cluster....

the silver car either drove into a pile of slide debris on the pass or got hit by a small slide, I didn't stick around to find out.

I arrived to find alot of this....

I bet some of you remember what that is, right? If you guessed blower sierra powder, you win. (As did I, run after run after run ).

I have realized I am not getting any younger and I decided to push it a little today, I slayed Dan Cliff over and over and over again. Hitting every huck I could.

I walked on rocks and hit the little diving board.

I hucked to flat (those branches are pointing to the take off).

I went FAT TO FLAT and now my back really hurts. Thought the snow was going to be deeper under the point of Dan Cliff, but it was no more than a foot of blower on top of hardpack. Stupid hurts. I know.

As not much was open my line choices were limited. Traverse to Lower Cham, ski the face to the right of the chute, air off the right side of the face and traverse back over to Sentinel Bowl.

Which brought me back to more of this:

Have fun out there this weekend. It is gonna be good!

Well I had to work today, but the good thing is a work at a Northstar. True, flat, but today I patrolled Lookout, it was face shots all day. Took a little hike (while being payed) to evaluate 'the biscuit' couple ski cuts followed by a total black-out as I slammed right into the wall of the white room. We got a couple of class 1 slides to go in the morning with ski cuts, but you could definitely feel that the snow had settled by the afternoon. Fun day, if you're skiing the flatstar tomorrow for some reason, come over to lookout and say hi, I'll either be on BRO's or spats, probably spats.

fluff, good to hear it was bonding by the end of the day.

Patrol was being pretty cautious with the terrain at the wood today, but given how few people showed up to ski, it really didn't matter.

I got some snow moving, but it never went far.

I have the morning off and am thinking the Heave or Sierra. Not into driving all the way out to the wood, for a couple hours of skiing. (Not to mention, i am already feeling the effects of a bad case of huck neck).

Lph, those pics were too white. Not from exposure, but from whiteness.

squaw was really great today. i ran into dwanis, big blue, miles and dave right when i rolled up; as i seem to every good day this season. they had alison gannett in tow who i've always been a big fan of so it was fun to meet her and slay kt with her all day. that lady is a good skier.
we hit red dog ridge just as patrol was turning the signs on the traverse. maybe the best rdr i've ever had. i always say that when its good. but the snow was so light in there it was one 30 yard face shot after another.

tomarrow will be nice as well.

I want Kodak as well, Kush. The point of Dan Cliffs is bigger, yup, bigger than Kodak was when I hit it last year (last time I had huck neck). And Kodak has a relatively 'steeper' landing. I don't think I will be hitting the point again any time soon. KODAK!

Everything was white today, 666, just couldn't seem to escape it.

    Bottomless too.

Bigger? That landing is flat as hell, I even know not to hit it unless there is 3 feet of snow! Have you been sniffing glue or crashing and hitting your head a lot dude? Way to get after it though....
