Tim Anderson will not be in the lineup today (he was up late deleting 11 year old tweets he made about knocking someone out). Lol. Ok sport, you sit this one out. Josey will DH for the Guards.

The internet is absolutely killing me with this incident.

My favorite comment was “Tim Anderson continues to struggle to hit”

My feed was lit up with a number of OTD posts about Ventura’s bad decision to charge Nolan. Maybe Tim was trying to rewrite ChiSox history, and only cemented it.

This whole episode is just a treat. Hilarious memes and video clips, one of the most liked guys in baseball gets to be the hero against a guy not many people like in front of a sold out stadium (kudos stadium sound guy for instantly playing the “JOSÉ, JOSÉ, JOSÉ!” chant at full-volume), the greatest baseball play call of the year by Hammy, and nonstop replays of the KO and stumbling walk to the dugout by Anderson all morning long.

Then Anderson doubles down by deleting old embarrassing tweets about fighting and going to sleep, gets trolled by his baby-mama that he got caught stepping out on, and then taking a “planned day off and unavailable for media” today.

The best? José is in the lineup as the “Designated Hitter

Is this part of the MLB concussion protocols? Asking 4 a friend.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

If you watch Anderson Jello-leg it back to the dugout being helped by his teammates I’d say yeah, put that man in the protocol.

But seriously, it is the first week in August and they say today is the last time they play this season. If you don’t play everyone in your division at least once in the final month, schedule maker should be fired. But 50 games left as well? Stupid.

The only defense is that it’s the AL Central and very few people actually care

Anderson must have a glass jaw. Didn’t look like much of a punch. When he went into a boxing stance with one hand at belt level and the other just above the belly button, I knew he didn’t know how to fight. The punch he landed looked like it should’ve done more damage than Ramirez’s though

you’re thinking of the scherzer trade which the Mets are not subsidizing as much.

    for verlander:

Mets receive: OF Drew Gilbert, OF Ryan Clifford

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/j...tock-farm/amp/

so they’re sending up to 50m for a ‘22 first rounder in AA and an 11th rounder from the same draft. an international pick for can’t miss guys is like 8m now? i just don’t get it, it really doesn’t seem like much of a haul for an ace especially considering how much cash they’re including.

prospects are so overvalued anyway there’s a good chance neither guy will have as much war as verlander does this season and next.

i mean V is having a better season than Max and they are paying more to get rid of him and bringing back less - for the Astros. Awesome.

Slashing .296/.321/.593 since the trade. Also a couple of nice defensive plays. I’ll take it.

Oh don't get me wrong, I liked Rosario and thought he added more to the team than his numbers. That said, he's on an expiring contract and they were never extending the 18th rated SS in the league.

For me I can only root for so many NL teams. I'll wish your Doyers well, but my money is on the Bravos this year.

In other ChiSox news, apparently its a lawless hellscape on the South Side. Couldn't happen to a nicer team.

    Suspensions came down today.

    Tim Anderson - 6 games
Jose Ramirez - 3 games, will appeal
Tito, Sarbaugh, Grifol, E. Clase - 1 game

In the last week Tito has been ejected twice and suspended once. That's a heck of a run for the skipper!

Fun stat of the day: Jason Heyward has a higher OPS than Machado, Tatis Jr., and Bogaerts.

Well, that was cool . Didn't think that he would get there with the pitch count . Amazing for him!

You have to think the Reds, and more recently the Tigers, have to look at that and say damn what did we let that guy go for again?

He's basically a half year rental on a career year, Detroit probably wouldn't resign him and they got a young and unproven but very high potential infield prospect (blocked here by Stott and Turner ) for him, so not a terrible deal all things considered
