Bmills - that’s crazy. Glad you and your family are ok. Gotta be super traumatic for all involved like your partners friend.
Nothing, Cat is out of the bag and this is the cost of our "freedom"
Prison Time for gun owners who lose or have their gun stolen
Background checks and a waiting period for 100% of transactions
No semiautomatic anythings...
Tax gun sales with additional fee to go to mental health
Register ALL firearms and require insurance (car analogy)
Bmills - that’s crazy. Glad you and your family are ok. Gotta be super traumatic for all involved like your partners friend.

Yeah, it sucks. Same with :::'s. I read about someone who has been present for two school shootings. There has to be something we can, like, maybe try something?

Everyone is well until they become unwell. Everyone is responsible until they become irresponsible.
It's a fact that some people who are fine will lose their shit. Question is when somebody loses their shit, is it easy to get a gun? Yep.
sigless.
Yep for truth
The sister of one of my friends was at the Asian Ballroom dancing shooting in LA. Her dancing partner landed on top of her dead. The shooter was supposedly someone they all liked but found out his wife was stepping out on him w one of the patrons and he lost it and grabbed a gun. He was mentally well until he wasn’t.
And this my good american friends is what this shit all boils down to.
So does it take someone's death that is near to you to change your mind (and I'm talking to the percentage of the population that is of the opinion that more and unfettered access to guns is somehow a good fucking thing)?
For the love of Christ, maybe you logical and well behaved people down there need to get more militant, or at least politically active.
This nothing we can do argument needs to stop.
Please.

This is OUR mountain - come join us!
Sadly Gary, it’s not totally up to the voters.
Example - in Oregon the voters enacted a statute banning magazines larger than 10 rounds, and requiring expanded background checks and training.
Great…except the 2A lobby got a state judge in Lake county (MAGA country w/ population 8300 in a state of 4.3 million) to order a stay on implementation until arguments are heard on constitutionally.
WA just passed a law banning future sales of a list of “assault weapons”. Expect the same bullshit from the gun lobby.
CO just enacted a series of watered down laws. See https://www.npr.org/2023/04/29/11728...-control-bills
Whether they get challenged in court remains to be seen.
As noted above, more regulation will likely occur only if poor southern blacks start mass killing rich southern white folks. It worked in California in the 60’s

I don't talk about violent video games. I talk about the CIA running drugs in our inner cities to destabilize our control to create excuses to leverage more control over us. I talk about the aftereffects of jim crow creating those disenfranchised areas to begin with, and most violence being tied to those areas.
I'd love to talk about solutions to the majority of violence in this country which is tied to those variables.
We also have a far more individualistic and less homogenous society than many other countries, with less meaning purpose community and culture tying us together. Inclusion is great and there are huge upsides to the whole melting pot thing but it does lead to a less connected more alienated society more likely to engage in tribalism and viewing each other as the other.
Theres also a lot of research tying children of single mothers to more violent and unstable outcomes later in life and the USA has an epidemic of single motherhood.
Also I don't know for a fact but I'm willing to bet SSRIs are doled out more freely here than just about anywhere else.
I think it would be productive to talk about solution oriented ideas about any of those things. Literally no reason not to, even if you hate guns. Focusing myopically on only the guns isn't going to solve anything, regardless about your beliefs on guns, even if you're against them, the simplistic tunnel vision isn't going to save us.
We are not every other nation on earth.
Blaming video games is just an excuse.

Jesus fucking Christ you are insufferable. Everything out of your mouth is disingenuous garbage.
We need to focus on the root of the problem: the CIA run inner city drug rings, is the stupidest fucking solution to the gun issue I’ve ever seen proposed.
Maybe take a step back and consider how fucking stupid you sound.
Does give some insight into your concerns about genocide and totalitarianism. You should figure out how to deal with your paranoia.
There’s only one fucking thing to do. Don’t ever ever vote for the GQP! End of story. There’s one political party that prevents anything from being done. End of argument. Everything else is just debating minutiae and disingenuous.

This is literally on the congressional record as fact. But of course lets not hold anyone in power accountable for anything. I'm not the one whos so paranoid and untrusting of their fellow citizens owning guns despite the fact our society is less violent than it used to be.
I'm all for my fellow citizens owning guns because I trust them. i don't even carry. I greet the world unarmed with a smile. The fear and paranoia in this thread does not seem to be mine. Only a very small percentage of guns will ever be used in a crime
Great job picking out the single point i made that is the least actionable and possibly a thing of the past and ignoring the absolutely present and factual causal variables I mentioned. Wouldn't want to actually talk about any of those now would we?

go piss on their graves in a TR then and when you come back, smarten up.

This is literally not in the congressional record as fact, you conspiracy minded moron.
There were multiple investigations, all of which concluded there was no evidence.
Just because someone says something in congressional hearings doesn’t make it a fact.
Also, even if it was true, how would CIA drug dealing in the 80’s be responsible for the explosion of gun violence since the mid 2000s?
Jesus Fuck.
You really believe people manage to commit suicide by shooting themselves in the head multiple times?
The same way jim crow laws helped create a situation in which the current drug trade thrives. Just because something is in the past doesn't mean its effects aren't still felt. After slavery ended many former slaves moved into the poorest parts of the cities because they couldn't afford to live in the country and those areas are where the drug trade thrives and the majority of violence takes place. Its a little more complicated than that as there are some places that weren't populated by former slaves but have since become similar areas, such as LA, but the majority of violence in this country is tied to the drug trade and the fact we have large portions of our population still disenfranchised and prone to engaging in such behavior because they lack other opportunities absolutely destabilizes our country and is a causal variable for the majority of our violence. And yea the cia running drugs fueling the drug trade hasn't helped that either.
Even if you don't believe that, its a fact that major US banks have been caught laundering drug cartel money and they get a slap on the wrist. Fines not even greater than the amount laundered.
We absolutely do have more single mothers than other developed countries and there absolutely is research that ties that to more unstable criminal and violent behaviors for the kids when they grow up. I'm sure you know this is true. Its common knowledge.
I get talking about such things is hard though, because the solutions aren't as simple as just "ban guns" we'd actually have to think and come up with some ideas and you probably wouldn't get as much dopamine as doing so, but regardless your stance on guns, the determination to myopically focus only on them isn't going to solve the problem.
Honestly I think it would be great for our society if there was a bit less culture warring and tribalism and a bit more brainstorming about the things we could address without just blaming people who disagree with us.

all that furious typing and you’re still wrong…
sad.
Your ‘fact’ is flat out wrong:
https://jacobin.com/2021/11/what-we-...-cia-and-crack
(From an article condemning the CIA’s involvement with drug traffickers.)
For everyone‘a sake, please reconsider your information sources.
So do you believe he killed himself with two gunshots to the back of the head?
Wanna buy a bridge?
Regardless focusing myopically on the guns and nothing else seems like more of a cope than a solution oriented strategy.

Congrats, you earned my first ever block.
Provide the congressional records showing that the CIA was running inner city drug rings and I’ll unblock (though you’ll have to convince someone else to relay the message I guess).
Agreed, don't focus on guns, focus on bullets and ammo. Make it harder to get than Sudafed.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!
it seems you aren't aware that a bullet to the head isn't necessarily an immediate death
