My kid got on AC's kid's Jessies and promptly told me his new volkls sucked by comparison. I think that 161 Jessie 98 is a sweet spot for the 11-13yr old daily driver. Not gonna let em down in pow either.

Interesting. Is it coming back for 2018/2019? Could be a great fit for my 10yo son. He's currently on 150's, so the Charlie Murphy in a 151 may not be the best fit as he's been growing like a weed. Love that last part, pretty much sums me up.

Ha, we know that. The idea was something white-ish that incorporates some of the great new artwork. But whatever, I'll probably just get those K108 tours in the custom white top sheet, which should still look pretty slick.

On that note, when is the rollout for the next season's skis on the site? Any day now?

Finally had the chance to open the Steeples up on some bigger alpine lines over the Easter weekend. Conditions were great and the Steeples were smooth, stable, consistent and all around awesome. The first few turns on the run in the photo were good enough to make a guy want to sell a kidney and head to Alaska!

I got white topsheets on my BG and think they look rad. Just enough gray herringbone in there to stay barely visible, but yea, I should add a few more stickers too, just in case.

Im 6’ 195lbs on 184 stock layup Goats. I find the stock layup to be stiff enough, tho if i was having them built all over again, I’d go with extra carbon for added stiffness. I really like my K98’s w/ extra carbon for they way the exit the turn and how it helps the tips blast thru crud. Given that you’re a bit heavier than I am, I’d think you’d like the extra carbon and added stiffness.

edit to add: i’m planning on replacing these when the next iteration comes out in the 2019/2020 line and plan to go both longer at 189 and extra carbon.

They're awesome charging down faces on powder day, and busting through crud or chopped pow. but they're way too long and stiff for trees or bumps, it gets exhausting real quick. My daily is a 181 Icelantic Nomad 95, they could be longer, like 185 and that would prob be ideal. I really want some Wrenegade 98's after demoing them at Loveland, but maybe later.

Like I said downthread, I love my 184’s. I’m 6’ and 195lbs. They rule in the trees and are some of the most maneuverable skis I’ve ever been on in soft snow. That being said, I plan on going longer next time around for a little more float (along w/ extra carbon), at the cost of some of that maneuverability. I don’t think you’d be disappointed in the 184’s in any way, I also doubt that you’d wish for extra length. If anything, maybe going custom and adding carbon for stiffness might be more your speed?

Ahh, sorry to muddy the waters. But I have older 191's. I never feel like they are unmanageable in the trees. The RES makes these super nimble. And, I have even had times when driving the tips through crud I wished I had another 5 cm out front. That's why, for our similar proportions, I recommend the 189's. Now, your snow may dictate that decision as well; I'm an inland NW maritime-ish powder skier. And, FWIW, the only reason I think I love the wrens at a 184 is because I have a custom +1 layer of carbon to stiffen them up. YMMV. Sounds like you have a good offer to try the 184's. If you're ever at Schweitzer you can try out my 191's...

thanks! I rode 189 Wren 108's at the Loveland demo day and they were a lot of work, too similar to my 190 Sick Day 114's. to be fair, I had ridden hard several days in a row, had been on the 114's all day at A Bay the day before, and was tired as hell. I'd really like something in between my way too soft and too centered Mordecais and the very long and stiff Sick Day 114's. Hopefully I can hop on those 184's, sounds like they might be the ticket.

Counter-counterpoint: you love the k108s as a daily driver. I like skis like head monsters or my Kastle mx98s. In other words, I tend to like it a bit stiffer than the next guy.

Plus, you MIGHT weigh 210 drenched in maple syrup, but I think I got 20lbs on you. My maple syrup weight is more like 230.

All a bit moot until I can get on some 189s in a foot or two of tracked out mank and see if I feel like I need more. Sunday could be the day if on3p has a demo pair at the factory this weekend.

Anyway, I'm sure stock layup would be fine, but maybe +1 would be slightly finer for me. If I'm going to spend 800 bucks on skis, I want them to be as dialed as possible.
