Counter-counterpoint: you love the k108s as a daily driver. I like skis like head monsters or my Kastle mx98s. In other words, I tend to like it a bit stiffer than the next guy.

Plus, you MIGHT weigh 210 drenched in maple syrup, but I think I got 20lbs on you. My maple syrup weight is more like 230.

All a bit moot until I can get on some 189s in a foot or two of tracked out mank and see if I feel like I need more. Sunday could be the day if on3p has a demo pair at the factory this weekend.

Anyway, I'm sure stock layup would be fine, but maybe +1 would be slightly finer for me. If I'm going to spend 800 bucks on skis, I want them to be as dialed as possible.

Where do you plan on riding on Sunday? Looks like snow is coming back to Mt Hood this weekend. It could just as likely rain tho... if it’s not, I plan to be up at T-Line as usual.

I got the same deal last year. Steal of a deal IMO. I’ll be surprised if they last a day.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

I came really close to pulling the trigger, but some skinny guy talked me out of it. I'm thinking SG and a 184 BG for tree days would be a slick pow quiver.

If I go, it would be MHM. T-line gonna get blown off the map.

191 2014s are easier to ski than 189 asym. Slightly softer and a little easier to break the tail loose.

I’d guess the 189 have a higher speed limit, but I never found the speed limit of either ski.

The 2014 and 2015 191s felt a little more poppy and loadable! They were almost more “jibby”, a little more like a K2 obsethed or 4frnt Hoji, if you will. Just a small difference, but noticeable. My 2017 189s ski stiffer, they ski faster, and ski straighter, but still are unbelievably easy to break free. I like both iterations equally as much, they just vary in levels of playfulness it seems.

I think my next 189 Goat (2020) will be custom. I want to try for a softer layup, but around the same weight (2500g/ski), to get a little more pop without losing too much dampening.

One of my dream skis from On3p, is a JibbyGoat. Something like a Steeple 112, with the heavier standard layup (maybe 2400g/ski), but with a softer flex for pressing and buttering that tip, and loading the tail for huge snap of jumps.

Dude! I asked for a RES tipped jib ski in a Billy goat width. But Scott told me that the prototypes weren’t great and encouraged me to just get a Billy goat - which I already owned.

The 191 goat really feels like a jib ski next to the 189.

Sounds like the jibbygoat may be found in the BG tour. Maybe the 13/14 model with bamboo sidewalls.

I dont ski switch much, so I wouldnt really need a whole new shape. Just a softer flex, slightly thinner Goat, thats still heavy for dampening.

I kinda miss the 191s pop and snap for launching off stuff.

I had a BG tour earlier this year, but sold it before skiing it. I’m really disappointed in myself for that one.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Alright; gearing up for a custom order in late summer (wife’s gift to me for finishing PA school). Thinking a 184 BG with extra carbon and wood veneer top sheets. This will be my tree/pow ski! For wide open terrain I’ve got my Volkls 100eights 189 and a pair of harvest homegrown 191. I’m 205# 6” like steep trees pretty much anything off Pali. Normally I’d just go the longest length but in tight trees maneuvering a 190cm ski can feel clumsy.

    Here are my questions.
-Will the extra carbon help on those days when I find myself on the BGs and want to let them run in bigger terrain.
-Does the veneer add additional stiffness?
-Will that be overkill on stiffness
-Does ON3P make a black base? The green looks killer but I find black ptex easier to work with.

A ski I really loved and am looking to replicate/improve is the 2013 Blizzard gunsmoke! Never ski switch so don’t need the twin tips but that ski was nimble when it needed to be and could charge through chop.

ON3P’s bases rarely require the use of ptex / repairs. Green herringbone is awesome, don’t sweat it.

I could not go skiing this weekend, so i just mounted my 184 custom stiffer 2017/non-asym BGs instead - happy times - I think they look rather nice. It will be interesting to try BGs with a full alpine setup. My 179 asyms with tectons and i have not been a 100% hit yet. My initial plan was to mount these with Shifts, but got tired of waiting.

Damp and damping in physics/engineering are not synonyms for dampen, but lots of words get misapplied and become commonly used.
