Talked to a guy that re-routed from I80 due to closure IIRC. Just not his day.
What could possibly go wrong?

The problem today isn’t so much the massive snow.... it’s the wind. Was driving up to Avon this afternoon, saw semis pushed around on the ice.
Not sure the 4” at Loveland will be there in the AM.
Agreed, I'll check things in the morning and reassess
This morning I drove from Winter Park to Loveland (the town) for work. Left Loveland at 3:30pm to head back up, knowing I was in for some trouble. Got on the frontage rd at Idaho Springs, wasted an hour in stop-and -go, found out Berthoud was closed. Turned around, went back up north and through Poudre canyon and through North Park. Cameron Pass was windy. Willow Creek I was feeling the 4Runner high centering in about a foot of snow. Made it home at 12:30am. Studded tires were a wise purchase. Fuck I70.
It took 1:30 to get to Loveland from Denver this morning. Thanks for spreading the butt-hurt to get people off the roads. Loveland opened more of the steps yesterday. I’ll ski the pow, while the haters are back in Denver thank you very much.

What’s my best source for 40/Berthoud closure updates? COtrip? Looks like it’s still closed.
open at 8:45 according to CDOT text

Awesome thanks.
Set the alarm, but forgot to turn it ON...fuck me![]()
I want to try and clarify my understanding of what happened here.
The storm brought 6-12 inches along the I-70 corridor and high winds that reduced visibility. Everyone spending the holidays in the mountains (Summit County) arrived at DIA yesterday in rental cars.
Was the road closed because of:
A) Too much snow and adverse conditions
B) Car accidents and too much traffic
Looking forward to getting up to LL after New Years and the clown show returns to their tents elsewhere.
Agreed. Both. Not sure why berthoud was closed. We waited for a while.
