    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Just completed W Littleton to ABasin in an acceptable 2hr 20 min. The hope that Xmas day traffic would be bearable was borne out. W of Empire average speeds prob 30, with road snow much heavier W of tunnel. Looks like 10" on cars but 6" on slopes. 9:45 no line, guess peeps 'round the tree .

Was at the Basin from 8:30 to 2:30. Got a rope drop every hour it seemed like. Such a good day. No lines till noon. Even then it wasn't ever crowded. Pali got beat quick but the first 4 runs on it were pretty damn good.

ha ha, i can't hear anything, (hearing so bad), there were no lines, no reason to get jammed in there....i didnt see you, were you in front or behind me , skis or board?

i did do that move a couple times where someone pulls up next to you at the line and then they take off for the chair , sit and always off balance on one side because they are like wtf? happened to the person next to me....

those fixed two chairs are too small for people that don't know each other anyway

I was behind on a board maybe at that point. Skied all morning, then switched to a board right before Pali rope dropped.

I just gave a guy shit when he was single and not paring up but he was with the guy in the next line, who was also a single. I get mouthy on Pow days :big grin:

I predict a shit storm of epic proportions starting very early tomorrow morning and ending some time after new years or when the snow runs out. the past few days were a gift for some.

    It's gonna get ugly

This week will be nuts. Hopefully businesses catch up from what was a few slow weeks. I hope we get a few more sleepers like today this week.

Headed to Arapahoe Basin tomorrow. Loveland pass is currently closed. What should be my plan for tomorrow morning, should I expect it to open up fairly early (say 6:30-7:30) or should I just bit the bullet and drive the long way around to Arapahoe Basin?

why do you need to have a plan? Drive up, if it's open you go that way, if it's not you go via Silverthorne.

Just drove back up tonight. Fair amount of traffic, and fair amount of left lane campers. Two observations:
    1. Does Cdot have a new method of traffic control in cycling plows on their stretch and running em multiple wide that blocks traffic from passing? Ran into it coming down VP EB, up to tunnel WB and down VP WB. Stacks traffic up in a line going about 15-20 mph.
    2. Are they using different material (larger gravel) this year over previous? I have been hearing some loud plunks on the car lately. And they fact that my windshield got two separate cracks in it within the past week from said plunks has me a little bit peeved.

I have noticed this too. It happened to me twice this weekend. It actually seems to work pretty well, as people who shouldn’t be driving at high speeds are prevented from doing so.

Works well until that same fuckwit causes a wreck because he's swerving through traffic trying to get to the front of the line. There's no way to outsmart the stupid ones, they'll always find a way to screw it up.

Apparently, I70 is down to one lane on Floyd Hill due to a big ass hole in the road. Traffic backed up 4 miles, they are considering routing people through 285. Welcome to a good ol' fashioned shitshow folks! 1970's infrastructure FTW!!!

I'd bet on the repair being complete sometime this evening.

That 5280 article that was posted here last year specifically called out that bridge as needing serious repairs that CDOT didn't have the funding for.

    Thank you for the clarification.

I read Ullrs original comment as "one big asshole on the road" and was confused as that's an everyday occurrence.

That bridge needs to be replaced, and current standards would require a new alignment, which would require many millions of dollars in geotech work because it's effectively a slow landslide. Not happening any time soon without a large amount of money appearing from somewhere.
