The biggest surprise in this story is that CSP pulled someone over for sitting in the left lane.

I moved to Colorado just a few days after TABOR was voted in. Anyone with a basic understanding of tax policy could have told you back then that it was a fucked up strategy that was going to cause a lot of problems for Colorado. We should be awash in government revenue right now, but we're not; the "good times" are what is supposed to sustain society during the "bad times". But if govt doesn't share in the good times, it won't have the money to help out during the bad times. And will never have enough money for some things like infrastructure.
It's kind of telling that the architect of TABOR is a scumbag and thief.

The hole looks to be in the center of the right lane. Just drive over it.
As for TABOR, the politicians could choose to prioritize and fund the necessary critical line items but this dem controlled state decides to do otherwise and allow the roads to disintegrate.
If it wasn't for TABOR you'd all be in line whining like those in CA and NY prepaying your property taxes
Uh, no. First off, Colorado is not "dem controlled", or were you unaware that the Senate has a republican majority (not to mention that 5 of 9 federal office holders are republican, plus the Atty General). And during much of the time between 1992 and now, the legislature has been controlled by Republicans, there are 8 years of a Republican governor in there, and maybe 16 with a republican AG. Over the past few years CO has been tilting leftward, but to act like our problems from TABOR are caused by democrats is typical partisan bullshit.
TABOR is not a "politicians" problem, it's a dumbass voter problem.

The issue now is that that referendum passed last year that makes it substantially harder to amend the CO constitution going forward. It's going to take a monumental effort to change things RE:TABOR, and by the time they get changed we'll likely be too far behind to catch up.
CO leans heavily dem. Committees that kill bills are controlled by dims. Therefore the Repub side has no chance of passing anything they want. Unconstitutional laws were enacted due to dim majorities.
It is a fact that politicians do not represent their constituents. They bow to special interests who line their pockets with campaign contribution bribes.
Government is full of waste and inefficiencies. Fix the root cause of the waste and funds are available for the most important spending. Until then some of us will fight to keep TABOR.
I believe Randy Baumgardner (R) is the one who shot down the last bill that was aimed at improvements to I70. (He also shot down the I70 traction bill).
Yep. That was a terrible change.
Your partisan quackery is showing. Here's a hint: just because you're a right winger who would fit in well in a small town in eastern Colorado, and just because a majority of people in the state are to the left of you politically, doesn't mean that the state leans heavily left. We have 5 positions subject to a statewide election, I believe (2 Senators, Gov, AG, SoS). Republicans hold 3 of them. We have 7 more elected federal representatives. Republicans hold 4 of them. We have a bicameral legislature, and Republicans control one of those. And for much of the period from 1992 to the present, those numbers have been skewed even further right. The legislatures didn't flip at all until 2000, I think. But yes, sure, it's all those goddarned dumbocrats causing these problems!
And that ridiculous talking point of "if we just got rid of all the wasteful govt spending we'd have enough money for all the good stuff" is just that, a ridiculous talking point.
But keep fucking that chicken.

This doesn’t belong here but...
Why don’t you list the state programs that should be eliminated or reduced to free up dollars for infrastructure.
Colorado has a revenue problem, in large part due to TaBoR.... it’s really not well written and didn’t anticipate future needs.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Tabor, chains, and trains!
How many tourons have decided to never come back because of shit like this with I70?
It's a helluva lot easier to fly in to SLC and ski at Park City/Snowbasin/LCC/BCC. I don't get why everyone thinks Colorado is so damn Rado.
Also, what's with just about everyone at Vail now being from Mexico? I think the USA tourists all cancelled and Mexico still showed up.
Is this the second or third repeat of this thread
