    OFFICIAL 2017 MLB THREAD

I asked to change the channel at a dive bar with the bar full of Yankee haters.
Also was wearing Yankee hat risking deportation on my first day in Chicago.
    What the hell, Yankees.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in MLB, there was finally a game that actually featured TWO competent starting pitchers and didn't take over four hours to watch.

all the rest of those games, including the wildcard games; started very good pitchers. it was the fault of those pitchers that most likely got a little overcharged starting the game and gave the hitters opportunities they most likely never see in a ho-hum weeknight regular season game.

I would imagine the game 1 starters will be much better in their second start.

Bauer was lights out in his start. Just sayin.

And to your earlier post: last night was just vintage baseball. Even my Yankee fan NYC brother in law sitting next to me said this is awesome, this stadium is what baseball should feel like.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say keeping one's nerves under control in high leverage situations is part of what separates great pitching from good. Strasburg had the best stuff I've seen so far. 75% of Strasburg's pitches were strikes. He mowed down the one of best power hitting lineups in the game until the Cubs went small ball on him to capitalize on a fielding error. Hendricks channeled Greg Maddux and stymied another one of the best hitting lineups in the game for seven innings. His performance was really encouraging for Cubs fans hoping to see a return to form.

I'm not saying it wasn't thrilling for you Indians fans but neutral observers watched a game marred by the wrong call on a critical HBP and made even more exasperating by a manger who totally goatfucked his way through some big time decisions.

Espn’s Featured article today is how JG lost the game for the Yanks.

Scroll down for about 2 minutes to find something about the Indians actually winning the game as a result of their own actions.

The Indians won that game. Girardi didn't put 3 guys on and he didn't give up bombs to Lindor or jay Bruce (sucks). His bullpen pitched ok overall but not as well as cleveland's.

Though not sure about pulling sabathia when he did. But that in itself didn't lose the game.

I wouldn’t have pulled CC. And although that foul tip was strike 3, it’s fucking baseball and those are the breaks. Pretty sick of girardi but I have no clue who is better.

In some ways I hate playoff baseball. These guys think too hard, Girardi last night being a great example. And the game is worse because of it.

But then something like Harper's HR tonight happens and I love it again.

    edit: and then Zimmerman! outstanding

I don’t know how you can say any part of that big of a comeback win in October was “worse” than regular season baseball.

Maybe because I had to leave so I stopped watching when it was 8-3 Yanks and the Sox had just lost?

Today should be interesting for the sox-Astros with the weather(looks like the rain may make it out of NYC by first pitch). If they have enough delays, it may really mess up trying to use any single pitcher for long relief; it may be last pitcher standing that wins it.

I think porcello is going to have a great game.

Edit: 10 seconds later he misses his spot and throws an absolute cockshot down the middle. Fuck

Have to admit, now that I’ve calmed down a bit from the loss and my rage at FS1 has subsided, that was one hell of a pitching exposition last night. One mistake from a great pitcher was all the difference.

Come on Bauer, keep it up tonight!

Also, I would pay good money to hear Joe Buck say cockshot while calling a game.

As opposed to his usual use of the word when it comes to Kyle Schwarber.

Nice work... we were going to win this game

Verlander in relief seems like a good call. I hope he fails, tho.

    EDIT: Thank you Beni!
