altuve's homerins were left center, those are not cheap in Houston and altuve is maybe 5 foot 7; sale was off his game.

I think Sale has had too many hard innings put on his arm down the stretch this year. All the gopher balls have come late this year.

That's probably it for the Sox. If they were going to make a playoff run this year, they needed Sale to be at his best.

Sale hasn’t been missing many bats lately it seems. He pitched a career high in innings this year, so fatigue may be setting in.

Not sure the Sox have the magic this year, but as long as the tribe beat the Yankees I’ll be happy enough.

Houston looks good towards end of season, Sox are not in a great place other than not giving up another late season lead all the way. I want the Sox to win, but as just baseball guy, Houston v Cleveland is the series I want to see and should be this season.

Whew! Bauer Outage was sick tonight! I feel so much better as a fan getting game 1 of this postseason under their belts.

    ROLL TRIBE!!!

(So fucking stoked to be at the Jake tomorrow to see Cy Kluber!)

He's hot as hell, 12-2 in his last 15 starts with a 2.3 ERA

    Yes sirs.

Bauer has been a complete transformation from last year.

Golden Sombrero for Judge, all on Bauer tonight. That says something.

    OFFICIAL 2017 MLB THREAD

Yea, that he was given the benefit of a wide strike zone. There were some pitches out of the box that he got away with that Warren and gray didn’t. Bauer did have so much movement on his curve that I could see it being hard to call, but he didn’t need the help. Kind of reminded me of Mussina a bit but with a more explosive fastball.

Baseball is the real game of inches. I mean, a pitch here and there and whether a long fly goes foul makes all the difference. But Cleveland is so strong that they’re going to have to play a lot better to make this look like it wasn’t a total mismatch.

    Altuve though, wow!

just followed up on the strike zone stuff, fan graphs didn't have it quite as bad as i thought there was a lot of grumbling apparently, so it wasn't just me that noticed. Hoping for vintage CC this afternoon, that would almost be like a Cleveland win, right?

Meh. Stealing signs is as old as baseball itself. That article is a bunch of sour grapes.

I'm jealous and i'm in Houston and looks like the Astros may sweep if keuchel is on his game, BUT...

i'm a baseball purist and have been to many ballparks and Jacobs field is awesome and is great when it's rocking and there's a cool breeze coming in off the lake, having to keep the roof closed because its still 90plus in October is not pure baseball; a game at the jake is pure baseball.

just thinking about has me jazzed to go to a possible tribe-Astros game; heading to the southwest site to check flights.

Stealing signs is fine, having them sent to you exactly through technology is completely over the line. No one is saying that if you have a guy on second you shouldn’t be able to flash the batter where the catcher is. Of course, you’re a Boston fan so I don’t expect you to understand anything regarding blatant cheating.

I've seen the dugout on TV in every game I've ever seen, but I guess it doesn't matter since the Yanks got destroyed that series in Fenway with the Apple watches.
