The hilux looks like fun, but fnka, it's priced like a collectors truck or something.... From experience with similar vehicle 88 4runner, the electric windows can be a pita (solenoid) and the back e-window kinda sucks in the cold (freezes).
I really like the Tahoe... I've just been having trouble pulling the trigger on the repairs and upgrades... Could still do that - just haven't yet. I've been looking into a 246/241 TC swap to avoid an future issues with the electronic t-case, but that doesn't seem to be quite as easy as I thought it might be. I think the front diff actuator also just died... But, the 4x4 issues not withstanding, the truck runs great. Fires up instantaneously, trans shifts smoothly and doesn't hunt, it's a great size.. All good stuff. Also looking a maybe trading into a newer one... Carmax has a few '13s and '14s with ~40k miles for <$40k. Here's a '13 Yukon Denali with 41k miles for $37k.

But that Hilux diesel/5-speed might be the most durable vehicle ever made... No? What other cars would make the list? To find one with ~60k miles seems incredible. Maybe it's too good to be true... I'm going to find out. I have some friends in VT that I'll ask to look at it if the rest of the seller's documentation seems legit. Plus, would be a fun way to kill a week... Fly with the family to VT, visit said friends, pick up the Hilux, drive back to CO.... It could happen.
How have the Japs consistently made such pretty 4WD vehicles?
I still call it The Jake.
Be done with your constant pursuit of shitboxes and pick up a newer Tahoe and a stick 997 Turbo and forget about it for the next decade. Your search for Suzuki's, rusted out Rams and Diesel 25 yr old yotas is sad. Better yet, grab the 2018 navigator with the raptor engine and tune it.
lol... I'll consider a new 911 once they address the cooling problem.
Getting closer on the Hilux... looked at a couple of videos of it today and it's a sharp looking little truck.
Can anyone recommend (or not) a mechanic in Burlington for a ppi, and possibly a timing belt?
re: the hilux. do you have a mechanic with knowledge to service that thing? Have you looked into the cost of buying a used 4runner and dropping in a turbo diesel (and a unichip) to compare costs to the hilux?
RHD seems like it would be annoying as hell, if not downright dangerous.
I think every mechanic in VT will laugh at you for spending 15k on a 25 yr old 4runner. They will happily take your money though.

I'd be interested to see a link to all these cheap early 90’s 4 runners with no body rust and 66k miles on the odo... Around here, they go for $10k with triple that mileage. Lol @ being afraid of RHD. I'm certain that it will be safer to drive it here than any of the other places I've spent time driving RHD cars.
