    Thanks, that's interesting. I didn't know.

Also, as I kinda learned on ih8mud, those 250k mi lifted trucks for sale could have toasted expensive aftermarket suspension....

They tend to have some deferred maintenance, as some of the jobs are pricy labor wise, and they don't break, so people just don't maintain them that well.
As far as suspension goes, I replaced springs and shocks on mine. Pretty easy job. Rebuilt front knuckles, messy, but pretty easy. Drives like new. Great trucks. Built to last.

My brother has a 1985 Defender 90 that he sometimes uses for 4-wheeling fun in Seabring, FL. I can't believe that thing still has value. Same with Defender 110s

Correct me if I'm wrong but they're worth more now than when new. The 110s are ridiculous in that regard .

^^^Depending upon shape, I think the 90s are going for mid-30s-$40K and the 110s are worth mid $30s to $45. My brother paid $18k new for his. Originally, it was yellow.

^^^ That is because you are always looking for the most expensive of the bunch. Go to Hemmings and look up 1985 Defender 110.

Ended up just getting rid of the Tahoe and insurance is buying the Suzuki. Bought a CPO 4Runner. '15 Trail with 17k miles, paid $32k. Glad I waited on fixing the Tahoe... Since I started debating the repair, the actuator on the front diff died, the transmission started to stick coming out of park, and just in the last couple of weeks, the drive shaft had developed some low RPM shudder. Bummed it worked out that way... Probably a $3,000 mistake, all things considered... But the 4Runner is under warranty to 125k. Mechanically, that really plays to my strengths.

my old man's '05 suburban will be hitting 200k soon, only part replaced being the water pump (except tires and battery)

can't really ask for much more than that.

    well no argument there

    out here cars rust

our family bought a new sienna, financed it for six years no money down for six years at 400/month. It has 200k on it and not much in repairs. That said it is done. It is rusting and won't pass emissions. I would rather spend 200/month and get a new one every five years

I have an 01 Tacoma I'm going to sell for a customer I haven't looked at the values on these lately amazed at how much this thing is potentially still worth.... Super clean pre runner v6 manual with 122k. Is this thing really still worth over 10k to the right buyer??

My old man has a 60 in that color. I pretty much grew up in the thing. Outstanding mountain rig.

We took it out for a little tour today... Hopped out to take this pic near Harvard Lakes. The additional articulation with the electric sway-bar thingamajig switched on was pretty impressive (not that this pic shows it really). Not sure what the uphill crawl feature might be good for. 1st gear could be a little shorter, even in 4L. Didn't try the hill descent assist, but a couple of sections overran the gearing a little. But the brakes were very smooth and easy to control... Never broke loose or engaged abs. The wife was properly freaked out in a couple of sections! I'm a little surprised how much she likes her new car... I'd been trying to get her to ditch that Suzuki for forever, but she insisted on keeping it. To its credit, it was a great little car while it lasted... So I figured the 4runner would be fine, but not great. But after one day, it seems she's a believer. Score one for the home team!

Seriously. Here in Dixie, Tahoes and Suburbans are still pretty high priced for having 50-120k on them.

You find one for $10k and I'll show you its salvage title and pock-marked carfax.
I still call it The Jake.
