People and their old shit box Toyotas amaze me.
STFU, I've got two 964s right now... Jus saying.

Agree. I was posting for stfu as options to his hilux dream.
All of those Toyota imports with the diesel engines seem to be priced like collector items. Wishfully thinking that someday there'll be enough in the states that prices become more reasonable.
Here's a 20 year old fj80 for $20k, stock... waiting for the $15k in mods to be gravel road ready....

I have a 2006 BMW 550i (71K) and a 2006 M-B R350 (125K) that I may place on the market. Neither have really ever had a problem, or accident. Usually cost me about $350/yr to maintain.
Whoever eventually gets these vehs. will be very happy.
Only issues with buying a 10 year old veh. is the trustworthiness of the seller.

That's a nice looking truck... But $12k for a 3.0 isn't any departure from the price range...
And you're right about the 2lte... I didn't know anything about it when I first saw the post, but after looking through forums all last night, it's obvious that it's a shitty motor, and not what you'd want in an old toyota. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was that it was likely the same, or similar to the 2.4TD in the Top Gear Hilux. Apparently not though...
I think that 4R in Jackson has the 2.7... Should be bullet proof...
Personally, for the kind of money STFU is wanting to spend, I'd buy a built LX470 or Land Cruiser... best of both worlds between the Tahoe and vintage 4runners - something like this: https://wenatchee.craigslist.org/cto/6104158625.html
Hmm....

So just how prevalent are those IMS bearing failures?
They happen quite often, but there are quite a few solutions out there.
STFU: These are in the low 20s, probably high teens at the sale.

^^^want want want!!! ^^^
I've had my eye on those for a while, pretty cool that it's a rebadged Land Cruiser Prado. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Land_Cruiser_Prado
This thread is making me wonder how much I can get for my 20 year old FZJ80.
^ I've been really tempted... less so though as every beefed up LC that's for sale seems to have about 240k on the clock. I don't know what happens at 240k that makes people want to sell them, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to buy one. Don't know if that perception is valid or not. Any Toyota geeks have a sense about that, I'm all ears.
why would you want to sell at 20 year old fzj80? depending on condition, you could probably get quite a bit for it.
you should post your inquiry on ih8mud.com. my guess would be that they have deferred their second timing belt/WP maintenance and don't want to pay the bill.
if you want the lightly used (could become burly) land cruiser, look for lx450's that are stock. if your patient, you'll find people selling low mileage, pavement only, lx450's that are obsessively dealer maintained.

JDM Cruiser, 6cyl Turbo Diesel. 136K. Still, fucking $28K? Holy shit.
If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!

sigless.
Don't they do the tb/wp together on the 80-series?
No. On the later fzj80, the 1fz-fe motor has the water pump driven by an accessory belt.
On older fj80 series with the 3fe motor, the water pump is also accessory belt driven, and there is not a timing chain or belt. Camshaft is gear driven.
