At least he cleaned it. Shopping for private-party used vehicles last year I was blown away by how many people didn't even give them a decent once-over before listing them. I'm talking food everywhere, tons of random mail and personal items inside, thick layer of dust on every surface, etc. Of course the ad also says "well maintained." Yeah, OK buddy, the interior looks like a trash can but I'm sure you didn't neglect any mechanical maintenance.
there's gotta be a problem with that g wagon....
Pretty gripping story today on Jalopnik about a guy who ruined his entire life over an addiction to BMWs.

I mean, I get it, but hey.
I still call it The Jake.
41+ years old, what could possibly go wrong?
I like those e36 m3. But I have enough of a BMW problem as it is. Current Bmw inventory = 3.

Just a heads up for all you looking at older v8 bimmers. Don't over torque the water pump bolts. Cause if you do... You will break one of the long bolts... And if you do that... Well, that sucks. Cause if you can't get the remnants out with a left hand drill bit, it becomes a bit of a big job.
Gotta remove the valve covers, upper timing chain covers, lower oil pan, oil filter housing, radiator, Jesus bolt (crank bolt for pulleys), belt tensioners, alternator, lower timing chain cover, and then, you get to deal with the mess of the failed extraction attempts, and drill it out and tap it for a helicoil. And if you fuck up the block where you are drilling and tapping, well, don't. I got lucky and think I am back from the brink. Reassembly started last night.
What the fuck!

They should have specd a larger fasteber. Instead of an m6, an m8 would be better for the two long ones that go through the water pump, through the timing case, and into the block.
In any case, the paint had failed on the valve covers and they looked like shit, so they are at the powder coater right now.
In other news, in case you guys had not figured it out by now, driving old Porsches is fun...

honestly in that condition I really don't care how many miles are on it
You could fit three generations of dead hookers plus a few of their first cousins in that trunk. Pimp slayer!
I would pretty much kill for a pimpin 1970-or-so Caddy convertible for the beach. Just so awesome.

I believe I've posted about my fraternity brother's Caddy exactly like that but in butter yellow. Took the mirrors of no fewer than 30 cars one night going down a one way street with cars on both sides loaded with 12 guys and girls in back post-bar at 3am.
Stopped to let me out and the sound of sheet metal on sheet metal and popping door mirrors could be heard for at least 2 more blocks.
I still call it The Jake.
butter yellow is probably the best color for those cars. I believe you did post that before and I said the same thing then. It's still true is why.
My wife's daily driver got caught in the hail storm yesterday... Trying to use that as an excuse to get rid of it, along with the Tahoe I bought back in December. I'm thinking this is my next 4x4.
