I think it is possible if you don't go after PR.
I ran about 6 half marathons and half of them I was able to enjoy every bit of it.
But I too never experienced runners high.
Or maybe my tolerance is too high to notice I had one. lol

Runner's High is most noticeable during/following a harder run. "Jogging" pace never did it for me.
Your dog just ate an avocado!
I've enjoyed every mile of a marathon and of several 50Ks that I shuffled at social pace. The one that sticks in my memory was the Mac 50K 10 or so years ago. I started out at a social pace, hanging with a (slower) friend for the first 30K. We had thoughts of running it in until we caught up to an early starter and shuffled in with him. I figured I ran the course at least an hour slower than had I raced it. Most enjoyable ultra ever.
That's not my experience. I get the full endorphin euphoria at the end of a 3-hour social trail shuffle.
I guess I jogged those half and full marathons. lol
I'm not out there to break my PR every time.
So my pace's rarely faster than 10 min per mile unless it's shorter races.
I'm happy to be out there to run miles and miles without worry about traffic, get water support, cheer and enjoy the scenery.
Just happy to run and that's good enough for me.![]()
I've never found the "runner's high," but I enjoyed doing running halfs and shorter distances that were scenic or more social. A group of us ran the Boston half for several years, and it was always fun since it was more social. It was amazing to watch the pros heading in for the finish, running so fast, as we were still headed out. Now, I run out on the desert either by myself or with the dogs, and the views and the changing sky always amaze me. Even though I am super slow, I've gotten to the point again where I can enjoy running and miss it if I can't get out a couple times a week.
Good luck with NY this weekend!
Good luck, mang.

I wanted Boddingtons, but they didn't have it.
Also I couldn't do Guinness for an empty stomach at 2pm.
I chickened out.

Well, your heart was in the right place... ;-)
I tried.
My body on the other hand was having a hard time following.
It was a long, long day.
4am to 10pm of volunteering and cheering.
Well, drinking and eating somewhere in between, too.
Thanks for your efforts nutmeg! 4:05:37! Better than I thought I was doing so a nice surprise! Personal Worst by 4 mins but I'm still psyched- limping into work a bit late today...
