S5 is swappable plus lasts way longer on a charge than S3 at least. Like double. Water-resistant. Plus Lifeproof has a case for them, they are good cases.

Played with a friend's S5 and SIL's HTC One. Holy fucking bloated interface in your face.

Stock Android for this guy. Narrows the field nicely, and the remaining options are relatively cheap.

I'm in the market for a large phone... Currently have the htc one m7. I think I've whittled it down to the LG G3 or the GN 4. Anyone especially love or hate either of them? I really like the idea of the advanced stylus integration. But I had the GS4 for about a week and just couldn't stand TouchWiz. I understand it's been dialed back in the current rev... I'll probably install some othe rom anyway. Haven't looked yet to see who's got a good read on the stylus....

More phone service related experience. Cracked my iphone screen. Skipped the stupid fucking apple store experience and went to shatterbuggy.com. Scheduled an appt to have my screen replaced the following day on their website. He dropped by my work on time, fixed the screen in 20 minutes for much less than Apple. Nice business model.

The Nexus 6 is easily the cheapest of the "phablets". I'm grandfathered into a mobile plan with AT&T that makes my lines $30/month cheaper than they will be if I renew the contract, so whatever phone I get I'll be buying it outright. $699 is pretty attractive compared to some of the other options. That being said, the 64gb model seems to be nonexistent, there's no sd card slot, the display and audio are reviewed as possibly the worst in class, Android 5 still needs some user hours before it's really ready for prime time.

Still no "perfect" phone out there apparently. Although the LG G3 seems close. The only thing I've read as being a negative about it is the display chewing up the battery, but it has a removable battery. And it's been out long enough that there are some deals to be had. I think I can buy the AT&T model for $499. And I really liked the G2. I bought one for my dad a few months after I got the M7 and was really torn between the two phones. When I met up with my dad several months later and used the G2 again, I was still impressed.

I know, the girl was really pushing their deal on me, but, bottom line, I have a new phone with no cash outlay and I reduced my monthly bill by 20 bucks, so, you know. I'm technically paying 600 bucks for the phone, but, whatever. Cheaper than the deal at Verizon by a few hundred.

Nice phone so far.

Oh, and they through in a Chome cast device for 5 bucks.

I'm pretty happy with a sony xperia Z1 compact. Nicely built, great screen, very good battery life, sd card slot... all you can expect from a nice smartphone actualy, without too many BS proprietary apps. And it's supposed to be water and dust proof.
I guess the new one (Z3 ?) is nicer, in regular (large) or compact size.

I'm a year into the first gen Moto X and I love it. Battery life is great. Zippy. Mine is slated for lollipop soon. I also like the size although the new one is larger. Can't see mine self-destructing any time soon. Battery has hardly lost any of its original power although I'm good about keeping the phone off the charger and letting it drain.

Sure. Do it. I've been eyeing those. But at $549 for the max mem model, I am skipping it. Even with the $140 off coupon from Motorola.

It's more about the case than the phone itself anymore. I've dropped my Droid Maxx several times now - no issues. If you can't seem to hold onto your phone like a functioning human, check out either an Otter Box or Lifeproof case. Both make near bullet proof options for the grasping-impaired.

Ended up ordering the G3... Seems like the best compromise. Hardware wise, the Note 4 is obviously the best phone on the market today. But after reading some xda, I just didn't feel comfortable that there was a custom rom immediately available that would ditch the touchwiz bs while retaining most of the s-pen functionality. I was also tempted by the Z3 but didn't find the 5803 with a warranty for less than about $1200. I'll put the G3 through some paces... If it's not right, I'm going to send it back and wait for the SD810 SoC to come out. Moto has a droid with that chipset in the works that looks like it'll be the phone that google will wish they'd commissioned for the nexus 6.

I've been setting up my new G3 today, and this thing is great. Took about two minutes to root and take the at&t bullshit off. The more flexible ui is really handy. Quite an upgrade from my HTC One M7.
