What I really want to do with my smart phone for is use it to stream music to an all weather speaker. Mounted in the grille of my truck. Then when I'm at a PEDXing, if kids are passing in front I can play a lively march make them laugh. If it's one of those dweebs with their face stuck to their phone and crossing too slowly I could play a dark, slow, funeral dirge. Doable?

Another vote for droid turbo. No removable battery but damn that turbo charging is awesome, and the thing holds a great charge for a full day of pretty heavy use. Great camera. Sweetest screen I have seen.

Huh? Did you miss the "hands free" part? GPS talks to me telling me where to turn. Music is music. Texts come in, I say "Read," and it reads them to me. I was a bigger menace on the road trying to tune in a radio station on the old dial stereos.

I know that I take paying attention to my driving more seriously than most. Trying to keep my 1 million+ miles of driving without an accident intact. I only count forward miles. Hands free = driving with a couple of drinks in you that would put you over .08 or so I read.

I only count forward miles. I don't count the tree and the minivan that I backed into last year.

I've heard that study referred to a bunch of times. I have real questions about its validity. I mean take the fighter jet pilots who are able to concentrate on flying their plane in a close-quartered dog fight while talking non-stop with their wingman and even their own navigators in the back seat. I agree with Tippster in that regard....how many tines does THAT happen?..lol lol

I'll bet none of you never had to watch "Signal 30". I have always made it a game of being aware of more that the bumper in front of me. That has saved my bacon more than a couple of times. It seems that drivers are giving up driving before the car can drive itself. Do they equip new cars with turn signals these days? Don't see many.

Or maybe I'm old and slow so it seems that everyone is driving like a bat out of hell while drinking a latte and talking to their droids. Maybe it's time for one of these.

Fighter pilots in a dogfight have a wider road and no one jumping of the curb in front of them. Way easier to shoot rockets talk and steer than drive in Bellevue, Wa. without paying attention. IMO

When I told Tip to keep on being lucky, wasn't a dis. I meant it. Luck has a lot to do with not getting in an accident. I got lucky a bunch of times like we all have. But like traveling through avalanche terrain, I can reduce my odds of getting caught. I was dumb when I made the mistake of pulling into a small bank parking lot nose first in my dump truck with the 40 foot blind spot. I was unlucky in that some one parked behind me 20 seconds after I got in the cab. I don't park anywhere that I can't drive forward out of any more. The tree that I backed our CRV into next to the cabin we rented for the night, that was pure Old Man Syndrome. I've been warned.

Anyway, my son in law is a pro tech and put all my songs on for me. Showed me how but I still don't get it. But I get why I don't get it. I see a business opportunity for someone.

I don't understand how talking on the phone hands free is any different than talking to a person in the car with you.

Agree that both are detrimental to focus. Just another reason to have frequent safety meetings to review this information.

I'm sure there's a personal/situational range and one would get better with practice.

HEY! My phone is good to 6 feet. I could talk under water?

    Phone pricing is strange.

Lots of 2-year contract phones on amazon cheaper than verizon website. S5 was 1 cent yesterday, now $69. HTC One (M8) was 1 cent last week, now $49.99.

Amazon will yo-yo pricing on many items even in the same day and varies pricing by the day of the week also. Could be back at those prices again.

I just got an iphone 6 for company phone...all android up to this point for me

holy fuck do these things blow...unbelievable what marketing will do. It's a clean/smooth OS but the interface is a complete joke

everyday I discover something else that the phone won't do that androids have done for years
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Bump for a rage destruction. I murdered my Galaxy S5 after my pocket managed to pull off a hard reset for the second time, and I lost all data on the phone. It got the fast trip to the floor after I realized what happened again. Apparently Samsung is the only manufacturer who has hard reset programmed to a physical button press + hold combination that overrides the lock screen, as compared to everyone else who realizes this is a horrible idea and has it buried in settings menus behind password protection.

So I think I have it narrowed down between the Droid turbo and the HTC one M9. Any thoughts out there? And no samsung. I'm done with their shit. And no iphone, I like android widgets way too much.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.
