The screaming Moto Black Friday deals come with about 11 mos remaining, if you're lucky. It would take a lot of extras for me to drop big coin on a gee-whiz Moto.
The short OS update window is the biggest drawback to Motorola IMHO. I had two Motorola G series phones several years ago, and I liked them overall. I wouldn't pay a bunch for a Moto phone either.

I'm window shopping while expecting my Pixel 6a to get hit with the battery update issue. Google sent me $100 already for the problems, and I can trade the Pixel 6a for $40 (Best Buy will buy it without the need for any purchase). So I got $140 of house money to play with.

That Razr is a 2024 model with lots of RAM and storage, free - - so long as I switch to Total Wireless for two months. The deal is a total of $110 for phone + two months service. I used to use Total Wireless, and was satisfied with them.

Mainly wondering if I'd like the Razr enough for a year or so, which is realistically the life of the phone's OS updates. I

I've watched too many movies where they cut off someone's finger to use to access a vault.

I suppose getting tortured until you give up the code is slightly better.

I think the new Razrs are a great form factor, but I'm too damn cheap to ante up for one

Update: I went with the &quot;free&quot; Moto Razr deal from Total Wireless. If the phone totally sucks, I&#39;m only stuck with it for 2 months at TW. If it&#39;s good, or just OK, I&#39;ll use it until I find something better (Black Friday?) and then sell it. Searching around for the best option for selling my old Pixel 6a, I ran across this site -- apparently it&#39;s legit, and their offer for my 6a ($66) is a decent bit higher than all the other trade-in sites I found ($40):</p>

I'm still happy with my Pixel 9 after 7 months. Ms CE got the 9 Pro a couple months ago and it's also nice. The screen is noticeably better than the regular 9 screen, and the phat soon camera is cool. I'm still not totally grooving with the way that they organize photos, but i prob just need to get on board.

PSA for anyone living in an area served by Cox communications:

I made a request yesterday to get a new modem for my home internet service. Lady on the phone asked me about switching from my current cell phone provider (Verizon) to Cox mobile. Verizon is more expensive but not outrageously so considering they tend to have better coverage in remote areas.

When I went to the Cox store to pick up the new equipment the lady there pointed out that the internet service I have includes one mobile line at no extra charge and Cox mobile uses Verizon towers so it will have the same coverage as Verizon. And includes all the usuals like unlimited text/long distance/data etc. I had them transfer my line over so basically I got rid of my cell phone bill. And the price is guaranteed for 3 years but without a contract that locks me in. Worth looking in to if it&#39;s available to you.

Not so much phone related, but plans.

We just had our Verizon phones pay off through the billing plan. That had me look at the plans available and phones (didn't plan on upgrading). Our old plan was $89/month, 50gb(?) Hotspot and you got 1 international day for each month (could accumulate 12 total i think).

New plan for $80, is 200gb Hotspot and unlimited international (not just Mexico and Canada). So no brainer to drop $9 and get a better plan (for our usage).

Did trade in my old Samsung 22S Iltra for the 25S Ultra. 1k credit, I think it was $299 on the payments (like $9 monthly for 36). Of course it still costs you several hundred with new cases, screen protectors and activation. So far the phone is impressively fast.

I'm in my second month of my package deal - - TGR wasn't working when I posted it above, so to recap: 2024 Motorola Razr with 2 months of Total Wireless service for $110. I just got the cashback notice from Top Cashback ($20 back), so adjust that down to $90 net.

The Razr is a shitty phone overall. The processor is a little slow, the cameras are bad, it doesn't automatically connect reliably to Bluetooth in any of our vehicles. The screen is large and fairly sharp, and the speakers are crisp and loud.

I see no benefit from the folding screen, seems like a gimmick.

At the end of Sept, when this phone unlocks, I'm moving back to Visible - - they're pushing $19/ mo plans for a year right now. Then will be shopping for an unlocked phone during Black Friday - - probably go back to Pixel, as the lack of bloatware was really nice.

I'm kind of in the same boat, but with a Razr 2025. Moto had a sale, gave my $125 for my nerfed battery Pixel 6A, and Google gave me $100 in reparations, so I took the plunge. I wanted the folder because space is really tight in my under saddle bag on my bike. It's great for that and great in the pocket. The processor is fine, or at least I don't notice any difference coming from my 3-year-old pixel haha.

The big drawbacks for me are the camera and the call handling. It's way higher resolution than the 6A, but the photo processing software isn't as good, colors are oversaturated and kind of fake looking. On call handling, screening suspected spam isn't an option, and it often shows me a phone number when the pixel would almost always show me a business name. Supposed to be possible to install the Google camera and phone apps, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

The folded form factor is fantastic for me, but I'll probably go back to pixel too. I may try to hold out a year.

I've been really happy with the Moto 5G stylus I bought in 2022. It takes great photos and so far no freezing or lockups.
I see they have some new phones coming out in the next few months that have crazy good cameras in them and lots of computing power with a huge ass battery for half the price of the other big premium phones. So I'm waiting.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Its not a terrible phone. I found however that's its battery life declined fairly quickly, in my opinion (definitely noticeable after a year). And I ran into requirements at work regarding byop that called for n-1 Android. Moto only provides OS upgrades fir 18 mos, which meant about 11 mos by the time I got it on black Friday special. I found that i had to buy a new phone every year so that I could waterfall one. This has all been discussed before.

I guess I'm just not on mine enough because it seems to last for a long time.
