Better voice recognition is definitely the Next Big Thing I think. What else is there that can be a game-changer? Higher resolution, more memory, more pixels, faster, blah blah, nobody really cares, the phones now are good enough, and the improvements are incremental enough, that people don't feel like dropping the cashish on new ones. I don't, for example. My phone is two years old and it does everything I need (except survive when it gets wet and I think I have that handled now). Voice recognition that actually works well and can be used in noisy environments would make me upgrade.

Next big thing for us in North America will be what they already have in Asia - paying for shit by touching your phone to a meter. No more need for cash or credit cards - it's secure because you need to log in your phone using a code or biometrics. Of course AMEX, Visa, and MC will fight against that tooth and nail.

Why? Does it go to your phone bill? I would assume with NFC you would need it hooked up to an account, like a credit card. So won't they still be able to charge their fees? I know I am not allowing AT&T to handle my daily purchases. If I could sync a CC to it great, but I am not letting them deal with those charges personally.

Good point. Someone would have to handle the charge - like your bank cards are through Visa.

the card coy's supply the meter & the processing in the back end, phone simply replaces the plastic card.

I didn't actually bother looking to see if Visa / MC / Amex themselves are behind it, but even if its smaller third parties you can bet their systems & processes have to be approved by the big 3.

I couldnt agree more. I cant hear shit anyway, but clearer audio would be such a more worthwhile improvement. And its gotten better over time but I think theres still way more to go. Way more valuable than 85% of the shit on my smartphone as of now

EDIT- did you mean voice recognition like dictating text? Or voice recognition like clearer audio? Kind of related I guess

Another big change is going to be in the way that our phones integrate with or cars. Car phones are going to make a comeback and touchscreen tablet like interfaces will become much more common.

Technology in cars feels way behind.
Bluetooth, gps, and cameras are advertised by car
companies as fancy, big deals. Sweet, here is a 50k
truck with 500 dollars worth of cellphone technology in it.

Samsung leaked a video last year of their durable/flexible
fruit rollup type screen..which I would enjoy more than my
    porcelain fuct wrapped iphone.

    Cell phone batteries suck rectum.
I would pay extra for a removable/additional lithium battery.

Google glass seems like an overrated tech toy for pervs.
The thought of google retaining a patent for contact lens wearable
    technology is disturbing.
    Call me old fashion.

That takes google fanboi to another level.
Id rather die in a dumpster fire.

Scale 1-10 how much of a pita was it jumping off apple to
    samsung?
I currently own all apple shit. Apple is becoming a scab
in my day to day work experience.

I never had an iphone, so I never had to deal with changing. Went straight from a flip phone to a motorola droid. But google's no better than apple - they are about equally evil I think.

I want to fast forward through the next few seasons of fragile phones with asinine protective cases and even dumber hamstringing, exorbitant service plans.
Every limp dick in this country has a smartphone.
Why does my data service suck on my phone?
Why does verizon cell coverage in Minneapolis suck?
I can see customers getting ass fucked in
the era of the "saved by the bell" zack morris bag phones, or
even the flip phones. But now?
When I need my overpriced data to work, its slow.
Is this because every zit faced kid is sitting in their parents
car, streaming a netflix or google movie on their phone?
I wonder if Google or Netflix is required to pay into the big cell companies?

It depends how hands on you are. For me it was a 2. I have used the iphone since the first one (original > 3GS > 4S) and went to Samsung when the 5's didn't do anything new for me. So I was well immersed. I also have nothing but macs at home and work.

I really enjoy having the extra battery and buying a couple 64GB micro SD cards doesn't add a few hundred dollars for storage like the iphone does.

There a few iphone only apps that I run into that I wish were on android but 99% of everything I want is on both. The syncing of music and contacts weren't as seemless as the iphone/itunes sync, but once you get it down, it's fine. Mine is all wifi now, it just syncs when my computer/phone is in range automagically. There certainly was a pain period as there is some fiddling with some things OS shit getting everything just right that I didn't have to do with the iphone, but nothing show stopper. All-in-all, I like the iphone experience slightly better for most things (probably because I haven't taken the time to tinker with it to get it just right, and I used iOS for 5+ years), but I enjoy having the extra storage, water resistance and extra battery any day over the iphone experience.

My co-worker and I were on a flight last week. His iphone battery died midflight and so did mine. I put in my spare, walked off the plane and ordered my Uber driver. He had to find an outlet, plug it in for a while until it turned back on to order his Uber home. Not having to deal with those little worries while traveling far outweighs anything else.

I'm loving my moto x with the bamboo back. I've fucking tossed it like whoa and it has nary a problem, as opposed to the samsung galaxy nexus which I dropped 3 times and basically had all sorts of issues.

My buddy just bought a double size battery and extended back plate for his Samsung Galaxy S3. He says it lasts a very long time. The phone is about an 1/8" thicker.

I did that too, got a 4400 mah battery. Sucker will run for 3 days worth of heavy use where I'd be lucky to get 10 hours on my old battery.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.
