KH was slushy on bottom half and pow/ice up top. Still fun. Tomorrow might be sunny to end the season.

Louise was very good yesterday (Saturday) with Larch having the best snow. Started to corn up on the front side lower mountain in the afternoon.

I am goofing off in Banff today, but will be back at it all next week at LL. Am staying in a truck camper at the LL campground and loving it. Last time that i skied LL was when I spent the winter as the Whiskeyjack Lodge janitor during the first year of the lodge and Olympic chair, 38 years ago.

I had a great day with buddies on Saturday at LL, but I injured my shoulder in the afternoon unfortunately. Was ripping it down a groomer on front side, and I must've not been paying enough attention, because I went full speed over these bump trenches (not even sure how to describe it, but it was basically the side of the run where there's like a trench that ends in a lip you can make a jump over), and skis came off and tumbled down for like what felt like forever. Ended up with a bruised shoulder which still hurts today.

Had a great day at KH to finish off the season there. Backside of ozone was nearly untouched and skiing great, wish the hill would stay open another few weeks.

good couple days this weekend. on saturday enroute to jasper I got a couple laps in at Parker ridge, then today went up and did Mt. Whymper NE face with skiitsbetter and a non-mag.

didnt get any shots going down Whymper as the clouds moved in and had us waiting for pockets of vis, but got one for the SW face.

going up the towards the SW face, ascended out of view on the right, behind the rock outcropping.

shot of parker, looking up from about 1/2way. At 410 vert its a good place to stop if your going to be in the area, but definitely not worth a dedicated drive.

well done on the ne line on whymper "mindthegap" and "skiitsbetter". thats a long line. way to time it. never done it but scouted it out from the bottom with the hopes of getting in. looks great on the map. fairly steep on that pocket glacier. how much time did the climb take?

we dropped in after 3.5hrs, including eating, routefinding, coming within 50m of the summit, and waiting for good visibility. And by "NE face", he means the north bowl from the col. Click image for larger version.

k, right on. i figured that was what he meant. i couldn't get up in the basin to look at the pitch below the col from chickadee side. lil too steep to be boot slacking by myself when i was there. i've suggested that line a few times to skiing buds but we always ended elsewhere. i think i've only seen tracks going to it once, maybe twice. i'm thinking thats about a 3000ft shot. how easy is it to summit from there. it looks super close from stanley. i've also looked at the south face for a spring corn ski. there's a pretty direct ribbon from summit to highway

the only other set of tracks was a ascent/descent on the N side, looked a bit steep in spots (chutes at bottom & first pitch off the top). S approach was pretty straight forward, but came through a very steep gully (the top of the ridge you see from the road). that required ~ 20-40m of bootpacking and terrain trap, so probably only a way you would want to go if your getting an early jump at it.

ya i didn't make it past those chutes at the bottom. i was hoping to get a better look, maybe from the basin. psyched you got it though. been looking to get there for, idk , 7-8 yrs. just never happened. its sorta like a surprise pass thats longer , a touch steeper, and a lil biased towards an earlier start . south face to north face is def the way to go

Even the early 5am pickup by T2C that had us at the trail head at 6:30 didn't get us very supportive snow to start the day. Quite the wallow fest.

Kind of a "poopy" start for T2C. He's not really a midget.

Bailed to higher elevations which proved much more supportive.

Which led to more wallowing, but in a much better way than the other location. Seemed like the turns would be really good.

At least this wallowing led to some good skiing. Little spooky though as I went first and created a lot of sluff, but T2C actually got some blocks moving on one turn. Still nice and soft though.

Mrs TOLOCOMan settling for what was left in the couloir.

Off to a little mellower slope to get some more worry free turns in.
    T2C

Ended up a good day to a suspect start.

    Agreed. Post that shit up!
Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!
