Thanks man. That line has been an obsession for over a decade but I never really thought i'd actually sack up at do it - even stood at the top today I was very close to pulling the plug a few times. Just one of those days where everything fell into place.

Details soon. POV in a few days. As for now I am going to get some beer.

Not really that many lines to be skied around the Egypt Lake Hut. Fun place to go and hang out though. In a really neat setting, and fairly comfy. Easy to get to. I have a tradition of going in there for my birthday with friends, and we just hang out and eat and drink. It's not really about the skiing. There are better places to go if you want to be at the base of ski lines for sure. Even the Howard Douglas campground the other side of Quartz ridge from SSV would be better for that, and still really easy to get in/out of. If you do want more beta on Egypt Lake though, let me know.

Tryst was very good today. Face shots every lap. Had the place to ourselves until 11:30. I think the other parties were a little disappointed when they saw the damage we'd done by then. A few groups skied out via superslope... Don't really know what attracted them to a heavily sun crusted, south facing, baking in the intense sun since 8am slope. But, hey, to each their own.

Storm snow sluffed hard and fast.

I'm rubbish at guessing drop sizes but I would say around 10 and 15. So not that big. The second one is especially filled in and smaller than usual I think. The landing on the first one is a horrible impact for its size though - you pretty much slam onto that spine/shelf. I was struggling to walk this evening, my right ankle was not a fan of it. The second one is pretty straightfoward except the landing was really firm so it almost bucked me.

Some stills from the helmet cam will give you a better idea.

Scoping it from the ridgeline on skier's left:

    Almost at the first drop:

    The first drop:

Getting onto the right side of the spine:

Approach to the second drop is pretty fucking steep:

    Almost home and dry:

Spooky - damn that looks scary and ridiculously steep even with the fish eye gopro flattening effect. Congrats on pulling that off.

    This video? http://live.tetongravity.com/_Puskas...543/75233.html

It disappeared from Biglines but reappeared there. I love that video, it's so impressive how aggressively he skis. It's safe to say my descent was not quite as fluid.

Holy crap spooky thats a serious line! Nice job. Stuff I've scoped out on that face but never considered trying to ski it.
Lamothe I'm glad I've never taken a fall like your friend did. That would not be fun at all. Sunshine has some stuff that can mangle you apparently... surprised they let people hit it.

..... alright trying again. So its 30-40 cm of facetted pow up here and not a bad view.

Was originally gonna boot up this but the sun was getting more intense and the pow was deteriorating fast so bailed to valley bottom.

All done by 11:30. Good timez. I would like skiing down from the summit but with the hot weather in the forecast that might have to wait a while. (Possibly another storm again this weekend... )

Edit: Just about pocket rocket. I'm thinking you'd have a really really bad time if you didn't land the first drop. Second drop... a little more forgiving. Anyway, wow.

FatMike & time2climb, I was too busy with my buddies to try looking for ya'll in the morning unfortunately.

On another note, anyone plan on going to SSV tomorrow?

Also an unrelated question. Am thinking about getting touring bindings for my next skis. Is something like the Marker Baron or Duke (or touring bindings in general) of any use for doing slackcountry? I've never actually done touring and unsure if I'll actually do any next year since I'd have to meet up with someone from here (I don't have any buddies that do it or have any experience with touring).

Of course it's useful for slack. I would've gone insane in that february dry spell if I weren't out touring, it's a really nice option to resort, and there's not really any drawbacks to having touring binders on your skis. Don't forget the Sally Guardian is coming out for next season, it looks really good, but relatively heavy. Not that dukes aren't.

You might be able to do some stuff just bootpacking and skiing back down to base, but at most resorts, it's a pretty limited amount of terrain that can be done that way. Plus, if you don't know the terrain that well, just a bit too far can all of a sudden be a death slog if you're trying to bootpack your own trail thru powder.

Thanks and I agree - you'd have a really bad time if you don't nail the first drop. That's what makes that line such a head fuck - the one thing you know going into it is that you can't afford to fuck that drop up and yet you just don't know what it's going to actually be like till you're there when it comes to the exact approach/take off/landing/angles etc. We had a long look through binos from GE that morning but no amount of scoping from distance can give you any reassurance.
