When winter tenting there are 2 words that are your best friend much to your partners chagrin........................................... ...peeee bottle.......a dedicated nalgene to piss in while in the warm comfort of the tent. Put a little sad face or poison sticker on the bottle or mark it in some recognizable way. You don't even have to get out of the nice warm sleeping bag at 3am.

I like chilli. Also beef mac, burrito wraps, sheppards pie etc. Lots of info on the google. Main thing with beef is to cook, drain fat, run under hot water or boil to remove excess fat and then cook till done. The fat will go rancid. You can sub in butter or olive oil and lots of cheese to replace the fat content. Jasmine rice dehydrates nice too. I usually rehydrate at 2 water to 1 ingredient. Freezer bags....put food in to them, pour boiling water in to bag, place in cozy to keep hot, 12ish minutes usually does the trick..eat straight from bag. Banana chips, blueberries, strawberries, water melon, yogurt drops etc all make really nice snacks. Can put dehydrated blueberries in to cereal (alpin type) or oatmeal etc. Skies the limit. The store brought freeze dried are nasty fucking things.

Hey, before I forget again, I have an 8x snow study loupe and inclinometre to give away to anyone who wants them and can get use out of them. Got a 10x and my compass has an inclinometre built in so don't need either.
An update to this. I just ordered myself a pair of Fristchi Diamir Freeride Pro bindings I found on sale (hopefully this was a good choice?), and wondering if it's worth waiting for the touring model of the Billy Goats. Does the weight make a night & day difference? I figured I'd just try to get some type of end season sale from ON3P on their current '11/'12 model.![]()
Touring on heavy gear regularly = stronger.
your definitely going to want to pick up a touring boot. fr's are very prone to pre release out of the toe, cant get enough pressure because of the thinner sole without rubber. when I went from full tilts to quadrants 85% of my problems stopped.
i'd check out the sideseth from K2 next year. like this years sidestash - the metal. flat tail too
I don't get Fritchis. Why are they so damn popular? They are heavier, more expensive, more lateral flex, and not appreciably less fragile than the Tour F12's. Every time I look out the gondola at someone's skis with Fritchis on them, I just ask myself how that illegitimate looking toe piece passes muster in 2012. Not trying to bag on them, but what am I not seeing? People must buy them for a reason better than supporting the little guy company.
Weight is never a night and day difference. But unless you can get a good price on regular BGs, I can't see any reason not to get touring ones. If you were going to put a burly Duke or Guardian on the ski and charge inbounds on them too, then I could see that the tour compromise might be too great (they're taking weight away; if it were truly unnecessary to have all that extra weight of the std. BGs, it wouldn't be there in the first place). Ask Iggy, this is all just speculation by me. Design is probably not finalized at this point, but still worth asking.
People say that a pound on your foot is worth 2 or 5 or something pounds in your pack. Or as SFB puts it, it depends on how much you like carrying heavy shit up a mountain. If you want to be masochistic and get stronger, put some rocks in your pack, at least you can get rid of them when it's time to carry a big load.
No idea about popularity, but I ordered the Fritschi binding cause it was cheap and the website I bought them from actually shipped to Canada. I couldn't find the Marker Barons locally in stock, and the places I did find online didn't ship to Canada.
I'm slightly confused by this. You say I should get touring version unless I find a good price on regular ones, but then you say that the extra weight on the BG's is necessary? Or did you mean something else?Weight is never a night and day difference. But unless you can get a good price on regular BGs, I can't see any reason not to get touring ones. I'm not saying it's necessary, I'm saying that it's there for a purpose. That purpose is probably dampness and maybe a bit of stiffness, which matters more for in-bounds charging. Your use for the skis seems to more be around touring than in-bounds, therefore in your case, the extra weight of the regular version over the touring version is probably serving relatively little purpose.
Not night and day, but I can tell you that the BG's are pretty heavy in a 186. I wouldn't hesitate to use them B/C if you had Dynafit's on them, but they'll be a lot of work on the way up with Fritschi's.
But this is also very true.
You definitely want a touring boot, but my experience with fritschi's was release from the heels. I ran the heels at 10 and toes at 8 and they worked better.
Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season
Getting rid of all furniture at the hotel . Dressers, end tables , tables , tv stand/dresser and some bar fridges. If anyone is interested theres phase 1 ( if you will ) until weds then more at a later date.

I wasn't aware of this earlier, and to be honest, not sure I am all interested in having to shop for another boot. Is it necessary to get a touring boot for the Marker AT bindings too? I was primarily planning to use my current alpine boot (Nordica Enforcer boots), I'm not even sure if I really have the budget for touring boots. I kinda feel like a gaper for not knowing all this stuff.![]()

Consider them yours.
They should be adjustable in height to accomodate alpine boots at the toe....at least Barons and Dukes are. Seriously...if your idea of touring is going to be side country or short hunting for turns yoyo missions then alpine boots are just fine, you just have to adjust your stride a bit and be more picky about using the heel riser. Hell i've done 1600 metres vert one day in my Lange 130's. With that said, touring boots are definately nicer but alpines are hardly anything worth whining about if you can't get tourers right off the bat.Is it necessary to get a touring boot for the Marker AT bindings too? I do all my tours in Dh boots only because i don't want to spend the extra $$$ right now. the way i see it is until i actually put my foot into touring boots then i wont know what im missing

my fritchis are good out of the heel, but i run them 11 back 10 front (front broke i think). they will be fine to start off, im a big fan of the connection as compared to dukes/barons. especially if you plan on having tail rocker.
lasting with alpine boots for as long as possible will make the switch to a touring boot that much sweeter.
Thanks all for the clarification. My next step from here on is to find a way to get more flex time at my job so that I can come out when the storm hits and more during the week. Still unsure how I'll pull this off, but will find a way somehow. This year, I'm going on 30 days if I go this coming Saturday which is a new high for me. Last year ('10/'11) I think I only got about 10 days, and the year before that, got 24. Next season, I'm aiming for 50.
This is the setup I just went with. I picked up a pair of Billy Goats through Evo.com becasue of their free shipping (within the US) and got them to price match the end of season sale at ON3P. Had them to ship to Montana Shipping Company and picked them up in Sweetgrass Montana. I also picked up a pair of used Barons and skins from Gearswap and so far am super pumped about the setup. Shipping to Canada is retarded...
Possible plans to build a gondola to the top of Wawa ridge from the parking lot not sure if it would include a parking lot expansion.
http://sunshinevillagewatch.com/2012...ons-confirmed/
I remember see a potential resort map for Sunshine Village from skicanada from the early 80s with a lift from near the base of Wolverine that went to the top of Wawa ridge as well as one going up the dive.
You can tell Wawa is on the cards as they have been pretty-much promoting the use of Back/Side door on FB/Twitter this year.... The old "well it'll be safer if we bring it in-bounds as we have to respond there anyway"..... Frikin crazy how many tracks in there straight after the big storms.
But what would they hand back in order to get the extra acreage???
Anyone got any links/copies of the old operations/development plans?...... I always find the old stuff interesting to read.
If you look at the old resort maps from Louise on some of the coffee shop walls you see the old larch t-bar and plans for expansions that of course never happened.
And where the fuck would you put the top-station of a Dive chair?.... Ridgeline is too exposed??..... Dig into Dive proper?
