Would have been better if the people were sharper (realize it's almost impossible with an 8" exposure) and facing a bit more towards the camera.
A lot of blank sky -- maybe crop a bit make it a pano?
A lot of gray ground to the right.

So I went and 'shopped this image, something I almost never do (which is why I didn't even think of it in the first place), to add some more sky:

don't mind any crit at all on that one. (or any)

forgot the tripod at camp, it was a full moon hot spring session and I missed the beautiful moonrise to the left of the frame with the nice pink horizon. But, I forgot the tripod so I couldn't really get that shot anyway. That was a real bummershit. So, instead of doing what picture takers usually do, I actually enjoyed the moonrise and drank a couple of beers, then decided that I might as well take a shot with the camera stacked on everyone's towels on the wall. I wanted to get the hills in the shot since the moonlight lighting those up was just about the only interesting view at the time. And, while a great hot spring with a real-world nice view, these aren't as photogenic as the other hot springs that didn't accommodate a group as well. I guess I was trying to not put too much lipstick on a hog.

Really it comes down to not having the tripod and missing the rad shot.

the photo comes from a trip with a group from work doing trail maintenance off the june lake loop, here's a few more

Nice shots, you use that K-5 very well.

Baby snapshots seem to be what I do these days (until the Tokina 11-16 shows up on Monday, anyway).

You'll love it! The focus ring is pretty odd and takes a little getting used to but the lens is saweet!
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

Fat Salmon Open Water Swim in Lake Washington, Seattle, this morning. My wife took this shot. I won the non-wetsuit division!
