I brought my camera and an old, manual focus 50mm f.18 prime lens to a bonfire last night. Thankfully I just realized my camera has a very nifty live-view focus assist feature, which meant I could get a few decent shots in.

Awesome shots dromond! Wish I had my lappy to show you guys what I've been up to. Heading to the rainforest and zip line/repelling tomorrow! Wednesday TR to follow
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

I'm not really a flower/plant guy, but they really stood out today.

That's a nice place as well. I bet that is a fun island to hang out on with a camera and not a lot to do. I only had a p+s the one short day that I was there.

Thanks, your shots have definitely been an inspiration for me to get out and photograph the night sky. I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's pretty satisfying when everything works out just right.

    ^^ Thank you!

    25sec. f/3.5, ISO 3600, 18mm (27mm FF equiv.)
Shot with a Pentax K-5, a crappy tripod, and remote.

They key to that shot was the total darkness. It was taken on a moonless night at 12000' away from any towns or cities, although there is some light pollution on the left side from the city 70 miles to the East.

This is partly why my Milky Way shots never turn out as clean as yours. Family, work, and my laziness keep me from going out somewhere really dark to shoot. So much more convenient from the backyard.

A couple from Lost Lake over the weekend. Finally getting used to backpacking with the added weight of my camera gear (camera, tripod, couple lenses & filters)

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
