I went biking today. Mostly to take some photos of Mark. It was fun, but not as fun as skiing.

I know you've given some tutorials on the fun w/ lights photos before, but could you just outline how you did that? Absolutely incredible!

Burning steel wool spun on the end of a cable. One pad of fine (lights easily with a Bic lighter) and one pad of course (better sparks). The burning wool exposes well at f/11 and 100 ISO. Leave the shutter open long enough to expose the rest of the scene. That's pretty much it.

Went out with a friend for my first 4-wheeling experience yesterday. Wanted to try a different type of photography (for me).

Thanks. Since I've never shot this kind of thing before, I was trying to figure out the best angles on the fly. It is crazy what these machines are capable of (with capable drivers behind the wheel). And my buddy who's driving that Jeep (a mag, madmike) isn't that hardcore and this isn't that difficult of an obstacle apparently.

Here's a shot of the same place as #3, but from the other side:

    A different obstacle:

And although they can get pretty off-kilter, they usually pull through fine:

It always feels WAY worse from the inside than looking from the outside.

Sprained my ankle pretty badly Saturday night and yesterday was the first day I tried to get up and walk around on it for awhile. Didn't go too badly.

Just walked around the waterfront for awhile and snapped some pics.

These suck and do not do it justice, but I'm curious how best to attempt to capture evening rainbows and lighting?
