Finally got some star shots I'm happy with. These shots were taken between midnight and 2am, by 3:30 it was pouring rain.

Did you have to stack the first two or just relatively short exposures (like ~30s or so)?

I disagree, I think it adds some nice framing, and gives a bit of perspective to the shot that it would lack with out the rock in the frame.

The first two are single exposures. You can see some slight motion blurring in the first one, I think it was about a 25 sec. exposure, the second one was probably about 15-20 sec. The pics are on my other computer, I can get the exif info off there if you want.

^ you lets me know when they are ready. I can be convinced to pull the board out of the closet and get some multipurposed bikeriding/shooting/turns adventure in out there!

CW's star shots made me think of this shot of a moonlit wall in the Grand Canyon last October by Rick LeGrand from our campsite. The lower shadow is the rim to our backs:

I disagree. I think the color in the sky (and the contrast with the grass) is part of what makes this work. I actually think I would crop more off the bottom.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Went to a wedding on Saturday night. They had some umbrellas suspended over the dance floor with christmas lights in them. I was going for sort of an artsy out of focus look mostly. I was also sorta drunk... Anyway, some cool shots I think. All taken with my 20D with my Auto-Mamiya 55mm f1.8 manual focus lens, mostly around f2 or maybe a bit more and 1600 or 3200 ISO (shooting w/out flash).
