Inside the park home runs are the rarest exciting play you'll ever see at a park. I rate them above triple plays. They need, like, 5 windows of good luck/bad luck for them to happen.

I once saw Mel Stottlemyre hit and inside the park grand slam at the old Yankee Stadium. It's my conversation starter in baseball trivia contests. That, and a certain Jackson HR..........

took my 4 yr old boy to his 1st ballgame yesterday to see the bosox play the a's in oakland and hot damn what a great game. easily as many sox fans as a's fans and the friendly rivalry energy was awesome. papi hit a dinger in the 1st and that was the only run scored in the game. schilling had a no hitter going w/ 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th when the a's busted it up w/ a clean single. the atmosphere was just electric w/ the no-hitter on the line. i've never experienced anything like it in the 10 or so major league games i've seen. so fucking cool and now my boy is totally hooked. he now sleeps w/ his mitt under his pillow and wants to play ball every chance he gets. totally reminds me of my obsession w/ the sox and baseball in the late 70's and i'm just so stoked to share a passion w/ him. just wanted to share that w/ y'all and god bless the red sox and baseball.

Anyone see that BS play with Renteria tonight sliding into second? Forearm shiver to the Cubs' second baseman- I wish the guy wasn't a timid rookie, because I would have loved to see Renteria get fucking leveled. That was a bush league play if I ever saw one. I don't give a shit if he did get thrown at.

Yeah, that was pretty much bullshit and I would've liked to see him get decked or stepped on. They can't hit him because eventually they'll run out of pitchers. Lilly getting tossed was bs as well.

what difference does that make? if superstition is nothing than bullshit, then baseball happens to have a lot of bullshit? so?

Most people who haven't played the game at a higher level (HS, American Legion etc and up) will never understand. Similar to the fans that leave early in a one or two run game to beat the traffic. If that player thinks he is playing better in that unwashed underwear then he is. As for your comment on the Mets I guess I would say "Pride before the fall"

that reminds me.. i like hanging out after a ballgame. something about just looking at the field. let the crowds thin out while I relax and watch them roll up the lawn.

when someone gave me tickets to a yankee game two weeks ago, they were kicking us out of the stands 1 minute after the game was over. all we were doing was sitting there in our seats watching the reporters interview the players. security was on us like flies on shit..

just another reason why the yankees suck.

as far as superstition goes, if you can't handle the fact that I stopped believing in magic when I was 6, then we clearly need to discuss this over a beer.

The rockies are a surprisingly gritty baseball team. Last nights game was a good one.

Yankees are beginning to make their move, I still see the team's pitching as pretty mediocre, but the bats are coming alive. They might make the wildcard yet...

Mass- I'm glad someone noticed that about the Rox. Just about everyone in their lineup (except the catcher, whoever it is each night) is a tough out- and they're all gritty hitters. Holliday might hit the ball harder than anyone in the league.

If only they could get a bullpen worth a damn, they'd be in the race. Not a bad night for most of them having never faced Wakefield. I hope they knock Schilling around a little bit tonight.

Rockies are pretty good but they dont score any runs. How do you play in CO and come in at 12th or 13th in the NL in runs? They hit pretty well and get on base decently (just looking at the #, not from last night) but they dont score.
Team of punching judy hitters. Except Holliday.

Oh and I was encouraged with Papelbon last night. Throwing absolute smoke. Almost makes me forget the guy who tried to run me over outside Dillon's last night.

Im at work and about to watch A Clockwork Orange for the first time on my laptop. Is this a good idea?
