Tied for first, and isn't the Gambler coming back soon?
all this jeebus and superstition talk is just the Mets fans way of not talking about the samckdown being put down on them by the mighty dodgers.
and we dont even start a quality pitcher til tonite.
go blue
seven game win streak and above .500. you chowds better start watching your back. my rally cap is on, i'm not stepping on the baselines and steve, do us a favor, keep yourself busy for while seeing if you can find a box of curveballs or a key to the batter's box.

Yankees up tonight 8-1, Red Sox down 6-2 (although it is to the Rockies, so I'm not counting them out yet).
Thanks Steve!
I love when the boys sweep the mets!
speaking of superstition though, that whole batting glove nonsense Nomah does before each pitch is annoying.
bu tif he strats playing like last year, I wouldnt be so bothered.
Nice ass-kickin' by the Rox last night... Schilling looked horrible.

Let's not start that. Just imagine if Posada goes down - who would replace him? And a few others. No bench, crappy bullpen. Not a good formula if they make the post season.
i thought something might have happened to him. irul, good to see youre a-ok.
MassLiberal was right- screw a close competitive season, I liked it a lot more when the lead was double digits. We all knew the Yanks were going to turn it around, and here we go. Looking forward to a great summer (and fall) plus its still 7.5 games- not huge, but still some work to do and a long ways to go for both teams

95 or so games left...plenty of time for either team to soar or fold.
Right now I'm sticking needles in a Mets voodoo doll and sending positive vibes to Barrry Bonds.

I'll also go back to what I said earlier, Theo is a horrible general manager. Everybody in boston, that I knew, didn't want to sign Lugo or Drew, and now, they are the cause of our troubles. If the red sox blow this lead, he should be fired.
I think sometimes he gets too caught up in the stats/computer numbers and doesnt have a feel for who to sign. Billy Beane has a ridiculous feel, especially for pitchers. John Schuerholz is the same way.
And I was all for JD Drew. At say 8 million a year. Lugo=revolving door at SS. Still a lot of time though, and every team slumps at some point. This is the same exact team that was plowing through everyone through the first 60 games (over 1/3 the season) so they are certainly capable of winning a ton of games, which you HAVE TO credit Theo for, if youre going to discredit the team he put togehter for sliding through the last 15 games.

i will give him credit for the pitching. but he should be putting together a team w/o the number of gaping holes that this one has for 140 million, especially when those holes were predicted before he signed a number of stiffs for big money.
I think he does make a number of good moves, but those moves are overshadowed by the number of egregious errors that he has committed.
I think Drew will come around. History has shown he is a very streaky hitter. Although this is a very long cold streak. He showed what he could do the first two weeks of the season and needs to get that back. Lugo and Crisp on the other hand, they have shown nothing. We need to dump Crisp and get a bigger bat, how that's done, don't ask me.
Every GM is going to make mistakes and its pretty ballsy just to say "Theo is a crappy GM". After all we are only 3 years removed from a world series title. The Drew and Lugo signings were questionable but what was the other options? Trot in the 5 hole and Rentanerror at shortstop? No thanks.
The two trouble spots are two big trouble spots on many teams. They're just aren't many power-hitting shortstops or center fielders. Stat-wise, there wasn't anyone available that was better than Damon, and I'm not sure he's worth the money - certainly it's debatable. At shortstop they've wasted a lot of dough since 2004. They never should've gotten rid of Orlando Cabrera. What was wrong with him at short? Beckett's yet to give us a solid year, but I like his potential after the start of this season and Lowell has been great, so I'm not weeping over the loss of Hanley Ramirez.
What about Dave Roberts in right? I have a soft spot for a lot of the 2004 players. Wouldn't really mind if we still had Arroyo either instead of Willy Mo.
All we need is for Coco and Lugo to hit for average, not power. Coco had two .300 seasons before we brought him in, Lugo had a good batting average in prior seasons as well. We brought both of them in to set the table for Papi and Manny and so far both have failed spectacularly. You really can't fault Theo for Coco and Lugo crapping the bed. That was totally unforseen.
Nostalgia is fine and all but Dave Roberts in right will never happen. I happen to like Drew. While his contract sucks, I think he is a definite upgrade over Trot, who was basically a glorified platoon player.
Heh, I love it when Sox fans start this when they hear footsteps. Lousy general manager? Krist, I thought he was sent from heaven a few years ago.
yeah, but at least no one is talking about him getting fired.

um, to all you superstitious folk.. explain something to me? would i be jinxing the mets by pointing out that roger clemens is now 1-1?
because if that'll piss you guys off, then i won't point it out.
thanks..

I'm glad the losing streak finally ended.

I beg to differ with regards to Lugo, his poor production was evident last season when he played with the dodgers.
I just want to commend all the chowds for being so hospitable to Mr. Bonds on his visit to your fine city this weekend. Unfortunately he blooped one off of Wakefield, but, hey, I think he got the message.
