Working out all the kinks for a place I wasn't expecting wasn't something I was interested in at the moment. I am sure it is great but Aspen Highlands is in my top 10 for wanting to really learn

I mean... Steamboat is also *way* closer to Aspen Highlands than Cincinnati.

Did the Aspen Highlands Bowl yesterday and both Ozone and Boxcar were still skiing great. Mostly chalk with some powder from wind blowing snow into the bumps. Felt good. A little windy on the hike which helped with how ungodly warm it was.

    Aspen 24-25

How the skiing out there on the other mountains? Buttermilk is ice and slush. When the temps cool in a few days, it’s gonna be pretty awful. Every week a storm is in the forecast, then disappears. We desperately need a reset.

Finding Highlands highly variable today depending on elevation, aspect and shading. Warm temps have really spoiled the good chalk skiing we’ve been enjoying. Still pretty decent skiing to be had but it’s getting a wee bit harder to find.
Did not get up bowl today - seemed quite windy earlier but calmer again now

Couldn&#39;t get motivated to get out there today. 50 degrees and sunny, I&#39;m down. 50 degrees and milk jug, and without a subatantial storm since Thanksgiving, less so...

Sounds like the chalk in the Bowl is still primo but winds were indeed high

This weekends forecasted snow hasn't disappeared from the outlook yet... But hiking the bowl with AVSC on Sunday was postponed.. maybe in a week or two.

I’d give the chalk skiing a five out of ten rating for the bowl today at noon.

Today wasn’t as bad as expected…mainly because temps didn’t get super cold. Hopefully we get some more coverage tonight before things freeze solid

It skied a lot better than it sounded. Enough on Aspen to slash the backside of every untouched bump. Town series slalom was a blast to watch too. I may need some race skis in the garage lol

    Aspen 24-25

Yesterday was pretty prime at highlands early on. Groomers with a few inches of fluff were very fun. We hiked up and skied Gsix and it was amazing. A nice layer on top of windbuff is pretty ideal for ripping turns.

Today though! Talk about upside - I know a bit was after SixAM yesterday but this was a much better refresh than expected. I’ll probably be at Ajax

I was crushing it prior to my Bahamas trip. I was looking forward to returning rested and injury free.

Jacked my back two days prior to my return.

Powderoy was good at Snowmass yesterday and I'll probably stay here today, to avoid bumps.

Any thoughts on what is likely to be less crowded between snowmass and Ajax?

I think both will be a bit crowded (compared to normal here) for the first couple hours. I would guess by Eleven that both thin out as the powder supsides and the Super Bowl beckons.

Ajax should ski really well and lines shouldn’t be too bad if you stay up high. I can’t speak to Snowmass but I’d guess if you go further afield from VX, Coney and the Burn

That was a very nice reset. The wet snow from yesterday bonded with the ice and the fluff on top skied great!

I got to the VX at 8:30 and still scored the 3rd chair. First one down Promenade to Sam's. Never stood in a line after the VX.

Town Series SL was a lot of fun to race in as well! There was a very good turnout (50+ racers) and some pretty good ones. There are some impressive skiers in this town!</p>

Being a racer geek pays off in low snow years. Training is fun and good for your skiing. And who doesn&#39;t like it when you crush your arch rivals?<br />
I may not always have a good time, but it is always fun. (That&#39;s a pun of sorts)</p>

Did they change Snowmass opening from 8:30AM to 9AM again?
I don&#39;t see a PR release from SkiCo, but that isn&#39;t necessarily a change they want to announce (But should) given the 50+ year precedent before it.

I think the 8:30 opening time is something they were only going to do over the Christmas/New Year holiday this season.

Yep,they're opening 15 minutes early on weekends and are reluctant to do that.

Skico was Jim Crowns baby and now that he died, it's just a business. They'll be selling out to Alterra, sooner than later.

    Still, we got it good!

Had a nice day on Aspen Mountain with Buster and his son. Probably Snowmass tomorrow.
