I drove thru west bound at 2:30 Saturday, just before it closed.
Melted water from the sunny upper eastbound deck was pouring down onto the shaded and still frozen westbound lanes. Making them a sheet of ice.
I'm a really good driver with brand new 3 peak tires and I almost lost control at the speed limit.
I'd imagine some yahoo going 20 over with bald tires probably took out several cars in a pod.

Yesterday’s on and off-piste conditions were pretty awful, besides at the bottom of the mountain. I’ll take a bit warmer today for some groomer cruising.

    Snow next week??

Off piste was ruff, the groomers were hard and fricken fast. But it was a beautiful day, I was skiing with my gang and I had fun.
If I'd been alone I'd have bailed much earlier.
Got me thinking about the over 50 thread and all the gangs that ski together everyday and how the camaraderie keeps them going.

Some of the Aspen Flyers are in their 80's and they still ski hard everyday.

I think today's going to be a little warmer and will pop!

Aspen crew—I’m headed your way next weekend, mostly skiing slowly with family, but would be nice to get off the groomers for a bit if anyone wants to take a lap.

I see from the thread that ticket discount vouchers exist—if anyone doesn’t expect to exhaust theirs this year, my non-passholding wife would greatly appreciate one or two.

PM me your digits, I've got one.

I'm out everyday and even if we can't take a run, I'll point you in the right direction.

    Today was fucking good!

    Tomorrow could be challenging.
    Hopefully we transition quickly.

Anybody else have any vouchers available? She is not averse to spending the day shopping in Aspen, but she would rather ski.

Yesterday I found a few pockets on Aspen, so much was wind hammered. Looks like the bowl would be pretty dope this am. I&#39;m trying to get work done today though.</p>

    Aspen 24-25

Yeah, my wife was not super psyched on how Ajax skied yesterday morning but it sounds like Highlands skied well.

Low angle skied well at Snowmass yesterday. They rolled the DH course, on Aspen today.
    I had fun on both.

Bowl was killer this afternoon. Got 2 laps in at the very end of the day and it was ~10” of completely untracked snow and EMPTY. Like maybe the emptiest I’ve ever seen it - one other person at the top both times and we had a cat to ourselves. It’ll be great again tomorrow

We had 2 runs in the G’s with untouched snow until the bottom confluence. Maybe we got lucky

Sounds excellent; I’ll be up there this afternoon and will hopefully have time for a quick Bowl lap. Buttermilk was heinous yesterday; so so wet. My Kincos soaked through after the second run. Lapping Jacob’s ladder with [emoji637][emoji637]y/o boys…

    Highlands Bowl delivered.
Hike was conga-line packed and hot even dressed lightly.
But, Be One was steep (duh) and knee deep.

PS I even saw a guy with a full face helmet hiking up.

PPS Years ago I saw (and got passed by) a young man with his skis and poles in Texas Suitcase configuration.

    Subscribing.

I’m in Snowmass for the week. Forecast looks a bit grim until Friday but hoping for surprises, and even if not I’ll be spending a good bit of it with my beginner/intermediate wife cruising around.

Also, my first time in CO, somehow.
    focus.

It's not going to snow, but I'd hardly call the skiing/weather, grim.
    These conditions are much better
    for your less accomplished partner.
Get the grooming report and get out early.
If you want a 1/2 price lesson voucher, hit me up?
