"We had nice 3 days in your autonomous mountain realm last weekend." - Tom from Austria (the Rax ski guy)
From what I heard (from coworkers with teenage kids): all tickets are sold out and tickets are being scalped for $ThreeHundred-FourHundred. There are supposedly five hundred first-come, first-serve tickets for local HS kids each of the next three days .
All in all: the X games continues to suck more and more. I’m not as supportive of the exposure Aspen/SkiCo gets at this point, now that it’s a private equity play. Traffic was awful this afternoon.

Yeah…I couldn’t believe the scalper prices!!!

Is there a demo day at Highlands this year?

Crazy that they are charging for X-Games tickets now?
Yes, not that crazy though. You have to increase revenue and cut expenses as much as possible when you are getting ready to sell a company.

Not as close as the old days. But you can park at Tiehack or West and ski down next to the event site and view from the lift.
The practice sessions are actually better. The kids are going one, right after another, trying to get in as many runs as possible. Without all the announcements.
y'all need some snow over here! had a fun couple of days so far but sheesh, it's scratchy.
It’s hunt and peck for the chalk right now. Had U[emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] girls on Snowmass today and got a handful of them off their first drops ever. So that was fun, but my knee and back will be paying for it all week.

Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Anyone have any 50% off vouchers or other lift tix discounts they might be willing to part with? Have friends and family coming in who foolishly ignored my recommendation to buy ikon. Thx
The chalk is indeed very good up high. I skied three laps in the bowl and the wind buff chalk was money on White Kitchen, Ozone and Full Curl.
I did, however, manage to ragdoll the top third of Steep n Deep after airing in off the cornice and burying a tip into wind loaded soft beneath the cornice. I got pitched onto wind buff and took off at high speed. After tumbling and sliding a few hundred feet I managed to self-arrest and a woman skiing the top of White Kitchen skied down with one ski and pole. Nothing damaged except my pride… So I went back up for two more laps

Hello all,
I have a potential job offer in the Aspen/ Vail area and I was wondering about housing, cost of living, just general all around good bad and indifferent of the area. I would be coming from the midwest so I am sure the prices of housing would be ridiculous to me but work would help with that also. I prefer the rural life for sure but need access to 70 for work as it is a service type job.
Thanks in advance
@Leftyt It's good living here. Housing in Aspen and Vail is literally as expensive as it gets. Look in Gypsum, Dotsero, and New Castle if access to I-70 is paramount. Still expensive for what you get, but close proximity to good stuff. The midwest? You like big bodies of water? How do you feel about sunshine?
Maybe look in Rifle and live near Boobert?
You biggest obstacle will not be the price of housing, that will blow your mind, it is whether you can even find it.

Tell us more about where home base is and what the service range really is and we can key in on more detailed recommendations.
Gorgeous morning today and was bummed I couldn't sneak out.

Well that job filled quickly, I live I the Cincinnati area and work on elevators. It would have been Aspen mainly and cover Vail occasionally. They offered me Steamboat. I was not exactly excited about Steamboat compared to AL
Aspen Highlands
I get back 2/8. Busters got my numbers and knows how to use them.
Lefty: Just get out here!
Lefty
That type of job (not elevators specifically) are abundant out here. If you get here, that job will come.

Steamboat > Cincinnati (I think anyways...)
Apologies for the thread-jack but I didn’t want to start a new one for this unthreadworthy post.
Does anyone have a line on discounted lift tickets to any of the Aspen area mountains? I may be in the RFV next Wednesday for work and would be able to ski Thursday morning.
Or, anyone up for a tour next Thursday? Into safe meadowskipping and lowish angle trees.
Thanks all
