I think he can probably figure it out. Thanks.

    Wow,
And just think, that’s after the 30-40 cm of settlement already visible in your picture!

It was good up there. Even had someone say thank you for helping set the bootpack on the Cone. Knee deep goodness was worth the effort.

Mt. Brokenchair lived up to its namesake. Pine had some stop and go issues for about 10 minutes around 9:30am or so. Got it sorted eventually.

Looks tasty. So how dense was today’s snow? Would expect heavy wind hammer, but you seem more upbeat…

Gonna hit it tomorrow. Been off since Xmas due to crowds, wind and my granddaughter’s gift of a rhinovirus.

^^^ No wind hammering that was detected. Snow was medium density. Needed to keep the speed up on the shallower pitches and all was good. Should be good to go tomorrow with the colder temps. Hopefully a few more inches to reset.

Apparently Outback around noon today. I'd still rather be there than back at work! Hope you all found some good turns! The hordes will leave soon, and you'll no doubt be posting gorgeous reports of uncrowded goodness soon!

    You’re too easy to please.

All hope that most of the tourons visited us last week was dashed at 0705 this AM when traffic was stop-go from Chandler roundabout to MP 14. Took 55 min to get to parking lot from Chandler. Guess I gotta be there by 0630 tomorrow…

Snow was med-light with wind effect in exposed areas. Some blue sky was an added bonus. Got 4 ski-on runs like this

    Before CCX shit the bed.

And the crowds kept coming. Could see them crawling their way to WV from top of CCX. Lines were bad enough to leave by 1100 - although not as bad as what Puma posted. But OBX hasn’t spun much the last few days, so everyone is willing to wait in line for an hour to get maybe one run of untouched snow

Rumor is that Summit will open tomorrow. I’m skeptical given the amount of ice on the towers and rope, and the lack of de-ice work today. We shall see.

BTW, what do you call a group of tourons? You know, like a Murder of crows or an Unkindness of ravens. I’m thinking it’s either a Shitshow or a Clusterfuck…

I feel ya TBS! I rolled in to Summit West at about 7:15am. Got an epic first lap down skiers left of Thunderbird. (Pic are patrol's)
Poked around in the trees around Coffee and Olympia and once into Grotto. Spent about 15 minutes in the Pine Marten lodge and came out to the downhill bonzai with the Outback rope drop. Did one and done but it was really good. It was a traffic jam trying to get out of Summit West parking lot at 11:30am. But the half dozen runs was worth it.

I got the sense that half the mountain was on the Ikon pass just from some of the conversations in the lift lines and on the chair.

I agree on the Ikon thing. Got some dirty looks in the lift line when another local and I were joking about “Ikon not wait for you to leave.”

Sounds like Mt Brokenchair strikes again. Northwest went down. Apparently folks are being told to hike out and folks on the chair are being very slowly unloaded. Incredible.

Dude, it didn’t “go down”, it had a “maintenance hold”. They got it running two hours later for those who feel lucky.

And CCX pooped the bed again this AM. Lifty rolled his eyes when I said “looks like you’re starting maintenance earlier today”.

Sky was having start-stop issues this AM as well.

But we have facial recognition cameras at every lift! Not clear if they still work…

The snow was good today, crowds notsomuch. Gotta ski it like gate training - with dynamic gates…

I’ve concluded that the proper term for a group of tourons is a Circus, as in a Circus of puffins.

    Even Sky!
They can’t even maintain a brand new chair?
    Yikes.

Meanwhile, the snow outlook is staying meager in California. Might be a repeat of 2022 in terms of disgruntled California Ikon skiers regularly flooding Mt Brokenchair.

MHM new SOP is slowing MHX and not loading chairs so they can do ramp work in the middle of a busy holiday crowd. This is the 4th day I've seen them slow the chair and stop loading to do ramp work. If we pulled this shit back in the day, we'd get an ass chewing

Not so bad for Mt. Brokenchair. OBX was spinning at the start and did a first lap down Kangaroo in the 4" of reported new. Then NWX started about 30 minutes later and I hit that for some laps under and around the chair. The viz went to shit shortly thereafter and I ended up getting a bit of vertigo and after one last lap down the front side around 11am, decided to call it as I was feeling a headache coming on and the rime was just a PITA at that point.

I think some of the crowds have started leaving but the parking lot LP's said otherwise.

Happy New year mags. Good way to start the new year with some freshies.

Damn, good for you. I started on Sky - viz from top to getback was total Ski-by-Braille. ‘Twas good in the lower parks though, as all of the features are gone while these storms are coming thru and the trees gave some definition.

Couldn’t see PMX from top of Sky so didn’t head further west. Ran into friends with OOT visitors so went to CCX. Same CSS viz.

You’re a brave man riding OBX & NWX after yesterday’s debacle. Guy I know was on the Roulette Wheel yesterday AM when it had an emergency stop. Said his butt lost contact with the chair bench at the top of the rope rebound - was convinced that the safety bar was the only thing that kept him from launching into space. Then he got to sit there for 45 min while they got everyone to the top on diesel.

Better than doing another reenactment of Napoleon’s Retreat from Moscow I guess.
