Hola Lady La Niña Oregon Winter 2024-2025

Well, after screwing up the thread title earlier this week but no one as of yet stepping up...here's my second attempt to redeem myself.

Rolled into the Bachelor parking lot around 9:30am to find about 150 cars are so already in the lot. Snowing and blowing on the mountain. Word was out that there be snow in the Cascades.

Skinned up to Pine Marten lodge. Very peaceful getting away from the crowds.

Plenty of soft carve-able powder snow but some sharks on the ridges. A good 8" of heavier powder that felt nice underfoot. Good for the base as they say.

If things keep up, could see an early start to the lift served season. Here's to a long and lustrous winter.

    Bienvenidos al invierno

Was a nice first day out. Once above the Cone hike zone, there was lots of opportunity for undisturbed skiing. Might meander further W tomorrow….

This morning was another good day on the hill.

Dog dug a pit checking stability, or he was just looking for his ball.

How was the road this AM? Thinking about a trip up tomorrow but don’t have the snows on the Lezburu yet

Morning drive was a bit exciting. Icy, even on bridges in town. Will be better tomorrow w/o precip I’d guess.

Another good day up there - more wind effect than yesterday but still fun.

LOL. I had to get him off the skin track, because he was about to make me look bad digging a pit. As far as the road conditions go, it was icy from town to the snow line just about a mile past the visitor center and hard pack the rest of the way. Hopefully it's better tomorrow. Just take it easy and drive slow if have just AS tires and AWD.

Luckily was able to get me Subie shoed with the studded tires on Saturday. Drove up in the 4wd pickup on Saturday morning with just the AT's with plenty of tread and was fine in the blowing snow.

Todd Ridge had perfectly adequate coverage in the glades this weekend. Trees still need a few more storms to be fully skiable.
In addition, the new Scarpa TX Pros are everything I wanted in a tele touring boot. Didn't feel like I gave anything up on the climb and didn't notice much if any change on the downhill.

I’m waiting to see snowblades debut or Interloper rocking the SL carvers on 2 feet pow before I start waxing my skis… but I did check out the snowpack yesterday and I’m happy to report it feels solid… way better than what we saw last year in mid December. With another system coming in this weekend, can we anticipate Meadows to open soon… before turkey day?

It is - and the first opening day I’ve missed in forever. Getting snow tires put on 1030 Friday. Maybe hit it on the weekend

I'm gonna do it this year. Maybe solo Friday, definitely Saturday with B (I hate calling my 31yo son "the boy")

It's been at least 4 or 5 years since I did one of their "preview weekends"

I 'memba when they didn't open until they could spin Blue

For any tele-wankers like myself, there's a Tele Colo film tour happening right now and the Oregon shows are tonight (Bend) and tomorrow (PDX). Tickets are free for both.
