Sad news. I have skied that zone often (solo) and will be spooky from now on.

I didn't know the guy but I'm going to pour one out for him and everyone else who "checks out" glade zones in the fall.

Waffle haus on top of stowe on fire….what will Vail do without their $15 waffle sales?!?!?

Hope no one is hurt and that everything is ok. Not much smoke up top on the webcam.

Kitchen fire, not structural. Very little damage. Rich guys rejoicing.

Ah, this just jumped into my google feed. Assuming this guy did a lot of the maintenance in that zone. Just terrible and tragic accident. He clearly was experienced and just shit luck. You just never know. Damn. RIP

Weird season weird thread. Fail still can't even post an opening date for Stowe and there's no blurbs or previews on any of their other hills websites about how its warm and they want to open when Mommy Nature lets them.

Almost feel like the balls deep pow shots from the Jewish Alps are some sort of AI troll bots theyre that hard to believe.

I think I will brave the WROD at Waterville on Sunday that 6 pack bumps and queues shouldn't be that awful.

Wow Fail won't open Stowe until Tuesday. Yikes. Oh well haven't had an Epic in 7/8 years fits my tentative travel plans and Wildcat/Stowe are where I feel like skiing in New England this winter.

Interesting add on to the WV day ticket unlimited Nastar gates for 10 bucks. Some timed runs sounds awesome wonder where the course will be maybe off the T bar where they've had the pros training or somewhere under the 6 pack? Great early season offering regardless.

    Wintery in Franconia notch.
My nephews want me to take them to Sunday River tomorrow through the snowstorm to lap the WROD.
What's it really like at SR?
I was going to just watch football and pet the dog all day.

Couple NE places, Whaleback and Black Mountain of Maine, featured in this TGR/Indy Resorts film. Worth playing while tuning the gear for Winter which is right around the corner. Skiing is fun

It’ll be a shitshow through the weekend. Snow won’t ramp up enough to help with open terrain tomorrow, but will make the drive home exciting.

If you are lucky there will be some form of top to bottom skiing, but they were still downloading this morning. With today’s traffic and terrain I know folks were calling it after 1 lap.

Are your nephews paying you overtime holiday hazard pay rates for this?

If you just want to embrace the craziness, you can get some sliding on snow. I wouldn't buy a ticket or burn an Icon day unless the skiing was top to bottom, because the maximum number of runs with downloading in play is small--the lift isn't fast to begin with, it runs slower with foot traffic and stops for each foot load and unload.

Previous management used to just slow it for download boarding, but I have to admit that felt pretty sketchy.

They are showing Cascades as open, ungroomed on the report, so that would suggest top to bottom skiing. YMMV as to how much you want to actually lap it before it's groomed out, though.

Ugh. Ok. Thanks. Looks like we are going regardless.
Does Locke have a mid station for downloading?
    I kind of remember that.
Now this makes sense why it will suck.
I'll burn an icon day but I never use all my sr days anyway.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Yep. It’s kind of an oddity as they can collapse the ramps out of the way for the rest of the season.

They were planning on opening Jordan early for the public and trying to keep Locke for racing. Unfortunately upper management committed their usual sin of ignoring reality and mis-specced the snowmaking upgrade for out there, so they can’t turn things down and get pressure when there isn’t much water.

Do you happen to know how this year's water levels stack up historically, for the same time of year? I can't recall another fall this dry, but I may have forgotten.
