    why the long face, soupy?

this thread reminds me of a guy on killingtonzone who insisted K failed by not blowing a ton of snow and opening when VT got that mid-october dump. it then got absurdly warm, one week, another, and another. skiing literally still on the back burner as we hovered close to 80 several times.

i occasionally checked last year's thread, and saw no new posts - and all the while it's been happening here.
    "fool me once..."

well, it is getting chilly this afternoon and i'll be bringing the last of the houseplants back inside/closing the windows for the first time in a week.

got the car inspected today but left the summer wheels on.
so when it snows...you're all welcome. i did need new wipers so we're in for 6more weeks of drought.

happy almost 24/25...or maybe just '25 at this rate

no soup pics but i did harvest my first ever potatoes

Gettin’ my wood up as temps drop below freezing at night, even here on the Coast. Cross training for the WROD. Should I be wearing my skiboots, pack, and harness? Never forget…

First drizzle in more than a month with nothing appreciable in the forecast.

Massive is a relative word... this is not Montana or California.

Long hot humid summer really inhibited recreating. Peeper season colors lasted a scant few days.

air quality was terrible for my brother in brooklyn yesterday as a wildfire in the catskills blew smoke south and another lit up prospect park.

in brighter news, last night brought some piles, at least before it warmed up.

For some reason when I click on this thread it brings me to these posts. Ron Kon is in the trailer at .25, half my town is in that trailer [emoji23]the first slide in the trailer is Bennie’s Brook, about a 2 mile skin from my front door.

Ron Kon taught my oldest son in elementary school. I still have a ruler around the house somewhere that has his name stamped on it. Dude would ski a high peak in the morning and then head in to teach all day. He’s an animal.

Good on ya BGates for trying to ski em all. I got about half way and realized it’s not a goal I need to pursue

I could tell some shady AF stories about ultra creeper Ron Kon but I'll leave it at that.

Dude has put his time in the ultra rugged adk outback.

ullr is not pleased with these shitty offerings.
soup displeases ullr. chowder displeases ullr. and ullr couldn't give a shit about gumbo, croutons.
ullr wants flames high into the ski. melting ptex. The hiss of not-totally-seasoned wood. the smoke of a thousand hits. burn the catskills. burn prospect park. the smoke of a thousand eyebrows singed by the holy flame of the bic lighter in your center console.
ullr wants cars washed only to be covered with rust-inducing salt.
ullr wants something which has not yet been provided by mortals.
ullr teased us in october but we have somehow offended ullr.

So...Ullr-fest at your place on the Cape? It's getting late for Vermont but I'll bet the Cape would be awesome.

Surely its cold enough this week that Fail could have opened Stowe on Friday? Next week isn't looking so good. Anyone think 11/22 opener which is the first day they are selling tickets for is at risk?

I just need a dozen WROD laps and to get some boot work done up there pre Thanksgiving. But they want to be open that weekend and will let you ski fast grass if they have to IMO.

On the bright side everywhere else looks primed to have an excellent December. Might be a question of who has the staff to have good shit open early vs enough snow. $200 RT flights galore December > January pretty much any and everywhere.

    ^ No.

Killington has a little snow down but it has not been cold enough. Really needs a wet bulb below 26*. We've had that for an hour here and there but nothing sustained. Rumor is some places may try to get a WROD open this weekend but I wouldn't hold my breath. Going to be pushing 50* by the weekend....
