From that thread, a link to a UA assessment of RU losses so far: https://www.aa.com.tr/en/russia-ukra...on%20Feb.%2024
Consider the source, of course. But still.
"Let's be careful out there."
From this link:
“So all the columns’ heads are now out of fuel and battery power. They can’t move north, south or sideways, and everything behind them is stuck because of the mud, and rapidly running out of fuel and vehicle battery charge too (assuming they haven’t already). Nor can any of those columns defend themselves because they’re too densely packed. They’re just targets waiting for the Ukrainians to destroy them.
Only the Ukrainians had something better to do. They opened the floodgates of reservoirs around those columns to flood them and turn the surrounding areas into impassable quagmires for months – probably until July or August. (See photo below) Probably several thousand Russian vehicles in those columns will be irrecoverable losses. Hundreds of Russian soldiers might have drowned.”
Awesome
Remember, kids, most of us view this on a dark blue background. Thank you.
Man, I hope (most) of this true.
Except for the fact that it will clearly back Putin further into a corner, and we don’t know how vicious he will be getting out of it, like an animal eating off it’s own foot in a trap. (Tactical nukes?)
Still a good read.

Ok, Elon, thanks. But please put your money where your mouth is, and donate 10-50 billion for this escalating humanitarian crisis. What is that money better spent on?

Trump, Elon. Both jealous of Putin. Oligarch dick waves. Hey, I matter too!
Sickening.

Gee providing a global communication system to a country under the siege of war. It’s the little things
The fact that it exists should impress everyone who is not currently profiting from the current status quo

Yeah, also with thousands of units of space junk, glowing linearly in the night sky, forever. Couldn’t he at least have painted them ‘black hole’ black? How long will that particular technology be relevant?
He could have done the Ukraine starlink thing discreetly, as I am sure intelligence ministers would have preferred, and also bought a few hundred fighter planes or anti-aircraft missiles. And meals, and medicine.

Heard from one of my Ukrainian friends:
Hi everyone,
I thought to give you an update on my family in Ukraine.
My sister in law with two small children, 5 and 8 years old are in Romania. It took them 3 days driving instead of usual 10 ours and one day on a boarder.
My parents left Kiev this morning. I talked to them for 9 days to leave. I begged them. Yesterday and day before their little beautiful village where retired people live was bombed twice by Russians. People died. This convienced them to leave. They are driving now to Western Ukraine and the road is very busy.
I am planning to fly tomorrow to Bucharest while my sister in law is going to drive over 500 km to Bucharest from a boarder. We have to apply for UK visas according to a new law and do beometrics. I am not sure how long it is going to take. I spent this morning to translate their documents from Ukranian to English, which is a requirement and putting all my documents together to prove we are related. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring my family to the UK. My only wish, the UK government made this process simpler for people who run for their lives and all visas could be arranged in an airport. I will raise this in my TV interviews and now have a name of the senior officer who deals with immigration policies.
I must make an appointment with British Embassy in Bucharest too.
Thank you for all the support.

Having one unelected stoner potentially possessing the power to change the outcome of what could become a world war is problematic to me. I recognize he appears to be on the right side of this one no matter that his motive is likely pure dick wave. But this power he has is just as likely to be problematic, and he is just another power hungry mushroom headed dick oligarch to me. Fuck him.
Democracy and regulation are way behind the curve on tech. I'm all for rewarding capitalists for innovation and industrial progress, but when they start pulling the purse strings of history with nobody to account to, their power must be checked down by the people. As Lincoln said democracy is of the people, by the people, for the people.

This made me smile. Load em up boys, they should have all the javelins, stingers, sniper rifles, machine guns and small arms they need. Hope we are also sending more advanced SAM, radar and anti aircraft systems. At this point we should also include offensive systems, would be awesome to see Ukraine start disemboweling that stranded convoy. Even better to see them stop the advances in the South.
In the US world of insane defense budgets, this is an absolute bargain. $350 million!? That’s less than a 1/10th of a percent of our annual spending. We have a chance to destroy a significant portion of the Russian military and topple Putin. We should be sending 11 figures worth of arms yesterday.

I don't understand what the end game is with sanctions. Do we let up sanctions if Putin magically withdrawals all troops?Does Russia need to pay reparations before sanctions are removed? Do we wait for regime change? Does the west even want to deal with a power vacuum in a Nuclear armed Russia?
I heard today that 25% of the worlds wheat comes from Ukraine and Russia. Commodity prices for food are going to go through the roof and there is a very real risk of famine in Africa and the middle east.
