True, but I am sure the Afghans and the Palestinians consider our actions or lack of to be very fucked up and our decisions in those two countries will very likely create the next Bin Laden.
I saw the Irish PM today tearing his parliament a new asshole over their hand ringing over Ukraine but totally ignoring what is happening to the Palestinians. I agreed with his rather harsh assessment and have for years.
Like KQ's signature says, we need to find a way to be more kind and accepting as a species or I am uncertain we will make it. I know it is hard when people are pissed to find mutual ground, but I wish mankind would try.

From what I’ve heard - This American Life provided good context - it was a handshake agreement between Putin and Yeltsin. After Putin (possibly/probably) triggered the Chechen war, he said he would stop the corruption allegations (run by the FSB) into Yeltsin if he handed power to Putin. Not sure the evidence behind it but it sounds like a fair bit of belief that something circumspect happened in the transfer of power.

First, there ain't that many, they die much younger, especially males, and especially from alcoholism, and especially after the Soviet Union disintegrated. But, if they made it to old, on a meager pension, they have no power. Just riding it out in a cheap flat.

Someone mentioned Putin wanting to “make Russia great again” as a motivator for all this shit. Everything I’ve read says that’s just propaganda for those who buy into (aka his supporters). He’s really just there for oil/gas, and pushing NATO back (among other things).
